>343>ENSEMBLEThat last one shouldn't even be on the list. At least 343 made themselves known for killing the series. The only thing Ensemble killed was themselves with their watered down insult of an RTS title.
Ensemble did a great job at keeping the Universe familiar with the characters, themes, and soundtrack, despite the game being nothing like the previous games. This is something 343 can't seem to get right, whether is Halo 4, 5, or the Spartan Assault games.

The militaristic feel, the mysterious forerunner feel. a few examples.

The militaristic feel, the mysterious forerunner feel. a few examples.Okay, but there's only been one and a half Halo games with a militaristic approach/feel to them (Reach and the first half of Halo 3). I don't really think that's an adaquete theme to label onto all of Bungie's Halo games. The mysterious Forerunner feel is also incredibly ambiguous and it ends up becoming a really individual thing for fans that combines graphics, art design, ambient noise, and lore. Soundtrack, eh. Halo 4, you've got an argument there. 4's OST lacked a much needed overarching sound to it that made each track feel very disjointed from one another. For Halo 5, that's since been rectified. Not even that, but it arguably made a similar departure that Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach made from the original trilogy. As for art style, I think that's a really fair argument. And while I know this won't sway anyone's opinions, I'd like to put it out there that Paul Russel loves 343i's art-style, Vince DeLeon worked on Halo 4's and 5's art style, and Marcus Lehto argued that you need to change the artstyle if you want to keep a series or franchise going on for an extended period of time for Halo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W0KSj8nfasQ / H2Original feels way more militaristic
And ODST has a rather obvious Military theme
The forerunner feel was ruined because 343 just abruptly spilled the beans about them - in 1 GAME. No pacing at all.
The Art-style is unforgivable.

Even though half the game is from the POV of an alien zealot? And another large chunk of it deals with stopping giant magic rings of doom? You also get introduced to a venus flytrap that talks.QuoteAnd ODST has a rather obvious Military themeYou're telling me the detective, film-noir theme takes a back seat to military theme? Yeah, you know what, that's what I think of when I think military: Smooth jazzy saxophone.QuoteThe forerunner feel was ruined because 343 just abruptly spilled the beans about them - in 1 GAME. No pacing at all.Spilling the beans =/= revealing a small facet of their civilization and expanding upon what we learned from the Halo 3 Terminals and the Forerunner Sga. Also, there wasn't exactly no pacing. Mendicant Bias literally tells you in Halo 3 he's sending you to the Forerunners.QuoteThe Art-style is unforgivable.Glad to know I'm dealing with a rational, reasonable individual.
Bungie, by far. The only good things 343i have going for them are Halo 4's story (which they've sinced fucked over), Halo 5's Arena (which still is nowhere near as good as the OT), Hunt the Truth and the Forerunner Saga. They have one of the worst art teams I've ever seen, shitty writers, unmemorable campaigns, games launching with no content, one of the absolute WORST senses of humour from a company, shitty microtransaction systems, and an overall direction that seems like 343i are aiming for 12 year olds.I used to like 343i back during Halo 4, but now that Halo 5's out I feel like their overall impact on Halo has been a net negative.
I don't like the direction 343 took with the story, and there are only like 2 armour pieces that don't look like something a concept artist throws in the trash at the end of a doodling session. Probably just rose tinted glasses tbh. If we were taking the MP's in their current state then H5 hands down, but CE's multiplayer on custom and vanilla maps was fun for a long time after launch, before it became a pure beanerfest, and I've made my opinion of H5's online pretty clear in other threads. It's fantastic tbhT:;DR: idk fams
Halo 5 is a decent game, but god damn the armour design team for 343 needs to be rounded up and shot.
