Why is this so black?
So after I posted a topic about my brother playing Halo: Reach I came to the SHOCKING conclusion that not many people enjoyed Halo: Reach. Now to be completely honest I understand as to why people didn't enjoy it. The campaign wasn't as fun and interesting as the previous games. The armour abilities straight up brake the flow of multiplayer and overall it just didn't have Bungie's charm that they were known for. That said I still like the game. Not as much as ANY of the games in the original trilogy but it has it's moments like every other Halo game. Then we come to the point of Halo 4 and yes I agree that game has a multitude of problems. Especially in the campaign side of things but I enjoy the multiplayer quite a bit A LOT more then I do with Reach's Multiplayer especially. I love every Halo game. Halo: CE for it's great story, it's just a classic sci-fi story through and through. Halo 2 for it's crazy campaign mission's that were amazing. The Multiplayer that was addictive as all hell (I was only 5 but I have fond memories of it) and the amount of improvements to online console multiplayer that it brought, that pretty every much console game uses to this day. Halo 3 for it's improvements to content creation such as the file share & forge and don't hate me for this but the best multiplayer in the series, I know the hit detection was shit but I just love it too death for whatever reason. Halo Wars for well.... I don't talk about Halo Wars. Halo 3 ODST for it's great characters and story. Halo: Reach for it's sheer amount of customization that it gives you with not only your own character but with modes and forge.... just forge 2.0. Halo 4 for it's risky change to multiplayer that I actually enjoy... and that's about it for that.

I don't want this to become a Halo hate thread. I want this to be a thread about how Halo has brought us here. We are all here because of what Bungie created. Even if the future of Halo may seem a bit scary. Halo is still Halo. We all love it. We all play it. We all enjoy it. You don't even have to post anything. I just want you to read this and remember Halo. That game. It was pretty great.

All Halo games are quite decent as they offer a certain experience. There is the issue that some titles have a different storytelling mechanism, and tackle onto new characters, and ideas that haven't been introduced in previous releases. That sometimes causes people to be disturbed as an element they are not used to is introduced and it doesn't meet a certain degree of expectations that they may have.

Halo: Reach suffers of some issues, not just in the story, but also its mechanics that were a different direction from what the majority of the playerbase that was willing to move from Halo 2 had adapted to at the time.

Always take negative opinions about video games on the internet with a grain of salt. Most people who do have a truly negative opinion will provide a realistic argument besides what has been rehashed by others who may be either random people's posts on forums, websites, blogs or videos, or some professional writer for a publication.

Exactly. A good opinion is an informed one.

If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
I find it odd that everyone hated Halo Reach so much when I thought it was one of the best. Then again, I did start with Halo 3 and ODST, and this was around the time I jumped ship off the CoD Titanic, so Reach was a relatively smooth transference.

I didn't mind the armour permutations, though having them as default on virtually all gamemodes I didn't like, and armour lock got a bit annoying when glitches were probed for it (today, there's still one to throw grenades while in armour lock, but it's not nearly as prevalent as when it was very popular). I liked the new Flood/Zombies gamemode previously from Halo 3, but I hated after 343 took over and added in some retarded gamemode "zombieghosts" and modified certain maps so that they had a shitty sepia filter and blocked certain routes so the games stayed short. Halo 4 completely wrecked that gamemode and it's multiplayer was far more fast paced, something I didn't enjoy as I'd gotten into Halo to leave CoD-style-super-fast-reaction-time shooting behind.

I think a game can be determined "good" when it still has an decent playerbase still on, e.g. CoD4, though that has dwindled slighty in recent years. Halo 3 and Reach IMO reached "good" status given that there's still several thousand players enjoying the game today.

I've always liked reach.

It was my first halo game, so I wasn't that put of by the multiplayer, though when compared to H3 I can see where people come from (invasion was still awesome though). The campaign would've been a lot better if it followed fall of reach, though the story is on par with H3 (not very good at all).
However, reach had the best aesethics IMO of all halo games so far; gritty, realistic human tech contrasting with the sleek, polished and varied covenant gear. Still, H3 had far better lighting and atmosphere (standoff is such a calming place).

And forge was a whole other beast in that game.
