Halo Anniversary's bad art

This was going to be a reply to Verb's thread but as I got more into it I decided it could be a whole new thread on its own.

Let's talk about the god awful art we were treated to in CEA, I don't know who was the art director, but he must have been fired because the art in H2A is fantastic and stayed very close to Bungie's original vision for the game. For example the Library was completely ruined in CEA by 343, blue lights and holograms were added everywhere to make it so even a 3 year old could figure out where to go (this was fixed in H2A). Same thing happened to the swamp.

In H2A what I love is the forerunner architecture actually looks forerunner and not the shit that was put into Halo 4 and CEA, they strayed back to the monolithic uniform, matte design that Bungie established. Unfortunately I don't think this is the case for Halo 5.

The Library

Didn't make a lot of Halo 2 comparisons but the art style is much more consistent with Bungie's vision.

H2A

Another thing to bring up is the music in CEA was also butchered (unlike H2A), a lot of great tracks were completely ruined and in Halo 1 the music is very important to establishing the mood and feel of the cutscenes. Take for example below.

Also, Halo 2A looks pretty fucking amazing. 343 did a bang up job with that one. I can only hope scripts didn't break.

I had an idea in mind once. If I could get my hands on a few more various Halo assets, out of sheer curiousity to see if I could do it, I'd like to see if I could re-create the escalation comics usinng ripped Halo models and re-creating everything in gmod.

What I hate for CEA is that for the 343 level they killed the atmosphere of it by having the blood barley noticeable. One the build ups for the Flood was seeing these rooms covered in it and you had no idea at the time what caused it. Then there's that elevator which the whole way down was covered in it. They should have left the blood alone for those sections of the level. When it came to remaking that game it was a piss poor job. Instead of using the same models as CE they imported the ones from Reach into the game which to me kills it.

The forerunner structures in the original trilogy and Reach are nothing like what it is in 4 and CEA. Even with the good graphics engines in 3 and Reach.

Her point is that that sort of mentality is harmful to the industry. The existence of shitty remakes is a blight on the industry, and we have the right to communicate our dissatisfaction to others.

If the developers catch on that people aren't satisfied with their game, they'll make a better product. But that's not going to happen if we just lay complacent.

Why do people still think 343 developed CEA? Because they didn't. Saber Interactive did.
CEA looks pretty great. Better than the ugly ass greeeeeey Forerunner architecture we got in the original trilogy.

And you're under the impression that all Forerunner architecture has to look the same (talking about OG Trilogy vs Reclaimer Saga here). Guess what? It doesn't.
That's like saying all human cultures should have the same architectural style.

CEA is a great remaster.

Can't argue with this, except that CEA isn't even remotely a bad remaster.
