It also seems like they glazed over explaining why Cortana changed, why the guardians are a thing(they had plenty more effective means of controlling species & worlds.), Cortana and Chief shit-talking Halsey when Chief thought of her like a mother and I can't remember Cortana ever hating her, and why Palmer and Halsey are buddy-buddy confuses me greatly.

Maybe I missed stuff, probably, idk.

We haven't seen the full potential of Guardians yet, and they may have simply been to quell smaller rebellions, or even just a remnant of greater Forerunner forces from the Forerunner-Flood war [Forerunner dominion is portrayed as legitimately total, I wouldn't doubt them going to a ridiculous degree to eliminate chaotic variables].

Cortana's line about Halsey in The Breaking is literally a paraphrasing of her inner thoughts as she dug up restricted files on Chief in Fall of Reach.

As for the rest and why the story overall seems incredibly mediocre, I'll have to actually play the game to answer, but chalk it up to hiring Brian Reed as your lead writer.

Ah. We're dealing with more stuff behind the scenes. At one point Palmer found Halsey again and had a gun at her but she couldn't take the shot.

Palmer's not exactly a dummy. She's just a tad insecure about being a dummy is all. So she put all that stuff aside and now her and Halsey are mildly agreeable to each other.

This all sounds terribly silly. If some chick shot my arm, and I only had a bunch of hicks to help me so they amputated, then said chick shows up later and points her gun at me again and doesn't shoot, I'm still not going to be anywhere near okay with that. Begrudgingly work with, yes, but I can't see a good reason to be okay with someone that went all gung-ho zealot on your ass.

The Locke vs Chief fight looks pretty WWE. I mean, the Spartan IV CQC combat looks pretty WWE in general, but that's the one that really stood out.

Other than that, I don't see anything bad when glazing over the cutscenes.

And everybody just forgets that Halos are research installations with Flood specimens in containment.

The Flood is essentially the organic version of the singularity. And the Domain wasn't built by the Forerunners. It's a living thing that was built by the Precursors. Pretty sure Cortana's going to use the Flood as intended to try and merge everything together into forced peace.

Cortana should have stayed "dead." If it is not really her and we find that out in 6, and the Precuorsers/Flood are behind it, then okay. But SIX full games about Cortana...please, make it stop. 5 was a new beginning to move on without her. That cutscene when Blue Team meets her...my god, the cringe. So humanity won't get the mantle after all in 6...

And also, how did everyone from Genesis get back to Sanghelios so fast? Unless that takes place after...just a sad story taking the predictable route. Sad because I have to wait three years to see if they can resolve this. There's so much more going on in the Halo universe other than MUH CORTANA. What's next for Halo 6? Yet another Covenant remnant to fight? The SAME old Prometheans? Maybe we'll get one new variant.
