Halo 5 Story specific discussion thread (Admirals get in here!!)

For the reason why Locke was hunting the chief to me this would be a far better reason than what we got. It strats off the same but when we catch up with the Chief this is what we see. The Chief ends up getting tricked into activating the guardians which Locke doesn't know, but he still see's him doing it. Before they can have their encounter they both end up getting separated and when Locke gets back up to the surface. He see's the guarding leaving and the whole colony is destroyed before anybody was able to make it out. Due to this along with the mass destruction on other human colonies he ends up having the hatred for the Chief we see in the trailer.

It would've been even better if they'd have added Biko to the story so that all that business could have been pinned on him, too

It's sad that people can come up with something withing minutes which is a better story than what 343 did.

More interesting? Maybe.

I hated it here why:

Campaign is to short and story line is meh
You only play as MC for 3 missions
Two of the story line mission are going to talk to Halsey
Locks and MC fight was uneventful
False advertisement of lock hunting chief
No forge on release

Multiplayer issues
Rec system is pay to win
The satisfaction of unlocking armor parts is gone.  Back in the days of H3 and Halo Reach you had to put effort into completing challenges and achievement
Multiplayer maps looks like I made them out of buplo blocks. All the slayer maps look like an paintball field
Maps are too small. I don't want to find someone in 15s. I am the type a guy that like flanking.
Bugs everywhere.

I just replayed the entire game Co-Op on Legendary and it's just sunk in how important what Locke and Osiris are actually doing within the context of the universe, and yet it still manages to feel like nothing but an excuse to have someone save chief from the cryptum at the end.

One minor thing I wonder is about the Covenant on Genesis. What worlds could they have been taken from, especially the one specific group during the mission Genesis when we see them come in with the next  arriving Guardian after your own and they immediately begin landing Wraiths and troops on the ground. It makes me wonder where they were that wasn't the battle of Sunaion and that they were doing immediately beforehand.

But if Mendicant Bias is on the Ark and didn't leave, I don't really see the need for Halo 5 to pick up on it since that was an event that took place 5 years prior with its effects being felt 8 months prior.

I'm almost positive that one of the colonies is Whispering Trees, as that's where Ghost Ultras are manufactured, and you only encounter them and Wraith Ultras on the Covenant being pulled to Genesis with the Guardians.

Going back to your initial statement though, I don't think it felt like a routine exercise at all. I actually thought that Osiris saving Blue Team was the best part of the Osiris narrative. My argument for why it wasn't just another exercise is because they all risk their lives running straight into the slipspace pulses in order to save Blue Team. Whoever reaches the conduit nearly dies.

It was all good up until they used space magic to revive a character that died. The whole point of  H4 was to separate MC and Cortana and now what?! It didnt mean shit.
I still hope that this projection of Cortana is some hostile forerunner AI (maybe Didact's composed conscience?) just using the image of her.

Actually, the whole point was to challenge the Chief in ways he hasn't before, and make him change as a character.

Reviving her through "space magic" (Mind you, space magic that Bungie wrote about in Dr. Halsey's Journal) does not make it mean nothing. Cortana has changed as a character. It's not like 343i brought her back to go back to the status quo where Chief and her are buddy-buddy. No, they now have interests that clash with each other. It's going to be interesting because Chief has it in him to kill Cortana (I think), but Cortana definitely does not have it in her to kill the Chief.

tbh fam the entirety of the Created storyline has killed my interest in the story
the didact vs chief conflict was actually interesting. they had a really good thing going where halo 4 left off
bringing back cortana was fucking stupid

I honestly don't know. I suppose if it was done well, Halsey, and have Cortana remain dead. But with Brian Reed as lead writer, I don't think Didact or Halsey would be done well so we're kinda fucked.
