Numerous times in this site I've argued that comics break their canon powers and limits. It's called power creep, particularly concerning "peak human ability" characters like Batman and Cap.

Umm, no, but okay.
The comics and novels represent their actual capabilities. You can try to come up with dumb reasons all you want, but you're still completely wrong.

But literally flying using little booster jets, crashing through a huge boulder, destroying forerunner soldier with a few bullets, throwing elites around like toys, and running down a snowy mountain with no trouble, it's just dumb. Why would the UNSC drop them on top of a mountain in the middle of a air and ground battle? Why were they briefed on the mission literally 10 seconds before jumping? Did Locke seriously get a comms check while flying uncontrolled towards a mountain?

1- They weren't flying. It was a controlled free-fall.
2- I don't see your point. It's well established how powerful MJOLNIR is and that it's capable of breaking shit.
3- It's a cutscene. Get over it - it's not as though they've always been 100% accurate to gameplay. Plus it's a Promethean Soldier, they're fast but weak, which is even shown during gameplay.
4- Again, it's well established that Spartans can lift 3x their weight. Plus they have the element of surprise, as well as Jul's Covenant being poorly trained Sangheili from a colony that was cut off.
5- Okay. What's the issue? They're wearing power armour, and have thrusters to keep them stable.
6- It's a Blowthrough Op.They only have quick briefs before deployment because that's all they need.
7- Literally your only valid point here. Even then it's only partly correct, because it wasn't an uncontrolled fall.

The video was cool, but it's also pretty silly. It's hard to argue that their powers are canon, when we won't experience anything similar in gameplay. And of course, gameplay isn't canon, but it's really the only canon that matters since it's a video game.

It isn't hard to argue that their capabilities are canon at all. Just because we don't play like that means absolutely nothing. Their abilities are 100% canon regardless of you grasping at straws to critique the cutscene.
Gameplay isn't canon. Period. Never has been, never will be. Just because it's the gameplay of a game doesn't make it any more canon than a piece of shit tasting like chocolate. The books are 100% canon, and shows off their 100% canon abilities whether you disagree with it or not (and if you actually do disagree, then you're simply wrong. Sorry.). You don't decide anything regarding what does and doesn't count no matter how much you pick it apart.

Your argument is the equivalent of saying that movie Cap and movie Iron Man are the representations that count because it's a movie.
Basically, you're stupid.

It's kind of shitty to tell players that your character is so fast and strong and powerful, and then give gameplay where we jog, hop short walls, and actually need more than a few bullets to kill shielded enemies.

Except it isn't. You should have realistic expectations when it comes to gameplay, unless you want a limited-control QTE fest that plays for you.
Halo 5's gameplay isn't even that disconnected from the cutscenes or books in comparison to previous games. You're fast and more maneuverable.
And the strength of the weapons wasn't even very exaggerated. Buck was using a shotgun, which is one shot up close. Tanaka was using an AR, and we only see her kill Grunts and Jackals. We hardly even see Locke. Vale's pistol was the only exaggeration there was
(EDIT: Rewatching it, it actually wasn't very exaggerated. She caused them to hit each other with their swords, after which she was doing gut shots.), and her SMG was used to kill Grunts and a Promethean Soldier, which we know are weak, and even then was a decent amount of bullets.


I mean, you're well within your rights to shit on 343, because they aren't exactly innocent, but at least do it for actual reasons.

I like 343 quite a bit, and have talked about how much I enjoy their influence on the novels compared to the tripe that was released under Bungie's watch, as well as improvements in plot and characterization, in addition to the addition of really cool sources of lore like Hunt the Truth. I'm just talking about a cutscene doing exaggerated feats of heroism for the sake of establishing the characters and their abilities in a very brief amount of time for new players. I'm not going to address any more of your post because you don't seem interested in/capable of having this discussion calmly or respectfully.

Yes, I understand that they're showing off their established abilities. What I'm saying is that, in my opinion, the way they were demonstrated here was cartoonish and silly. It didn't look believable in the context of their established abilities, to me. The fact that I would prefer established canon to be closer to gameplay isn't really affecting how I view this cutscene, it was just an aside. I hate to use the example, but look at Destiny trailers: fireteams are sprinting around, jumping, and using their powers, and you can pretty much do exactly that in the game. Hell, maybe I'll be proven wrong in Halo 5 and we'll be treated to a badass level where you freefall around terrain, blow through an aerial and ground firefight, and just kick all sorts of ass. That's exactly what I would like to see.

Like I've said, Halo 5's gameplay isn't even that disconnected from the cutscenes. You're able to thrust and sprint about, and drop down on ememies from upper ground with ground pound.
You're able to hover about, slide and charge into enemies.

The cutscene also cuts directly to gameplay right as they jump out of the way of the crashing cruiser. Having such a disparity is something 343 have actually tried to minimize

Everyhing in the cutscene (besides jumping into Phantoms, probably) can be done in gameplay.
You can sprint.
You can thrust
You can hover.
You can slide.
You can ground pound.
You can break through the environment (albeit on a limited scale, of course).
