Why was the opening cinematic of the game released?

To make more hype like it did with the britbong in charge of this thread. You don't release a cinematic like that with intent other than to generate wows and buzz.

Opening succeeds in showing off the massive scale feel they want for the game, but it's a bit to over the top for my tastes.

This isn't planned strategy, this is blind running and gunning. I don't recall any of that aside from maybe once in the books. It hits the standard action super hero stuff by having it look really cool and shiny, but just because something is painted gold doesn't mean it is.

But in most of the novels they were always portrayed as stealthy and tactical. They couldn't run through enemies and they couldn't charge tanks.

Then again, I guess since Blue Team is in here as well we'll see how a Spartan II does it.

Yeah, just like when Kelly, Joshua and Fred flew a couple Banshees into a staging point so Kelly could throw a nuke like a football into a Covenant cruiser?
Or like the time when Linda sniped Banshee pilots out of Banshees using one hand whilst hanging from a cable upside down?

We already know they'll act differently because of people who've played a Blue Team level.
They fthrust through space to a station, break through the glass, clamp down their feet to the floor and let the Covenant inside get sucked into vacuum, all without firing a single shot.

I get why people are complaining that it was over-the-top, but I found it really fun to watch. It definitely hyped me up, and I rarely play games anymore.
