"You are young. I am old. I am dead."
I got to play a little of it through the Xbox Preview program. Its basically Halo 4 on steroids with a couple of small twists.
Doesn't have perks
doesn't have ordinance drops
doesn't have jetpack

It mainly comes down to ADS and sprint.  Everything else is fairly minor.
The "ADS" is literally a fancy animation for scoping in. It functions the exact same way.

This has been a thing in Halo games for years, and that's not going to make any difference at all.

You could increase precision of automatic weapons by zooming in the other Halo's?
I wasn't specifically referring to automatics.
Well it doesn't function the same.  It takes up more of your screen now, and allows precision weapons to be more accurate at medium range.
I always thought there was an accuracy change when using the scope on precision weapons. Because your reticle stayed proportionate when zooming in. If it stayed the same, wouldn't you expect it to appear larger when scoped in to represent the true accuracy?

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
On the topic of ADS.

Isnt it kind of stupid to have them aim the weapon and obstruct much of their view when their helmets could do the same thing but without the iron sights in the way...

Im just saying, ADS is there for market purposes.

Oh, well I guess that was more meant for Goji.

Anyway, yeah. The Silenced SMG always behaved that way in both iterations.

You see the kickback it has when using Smart Scope? That and in combination with de-scoping and literally no auto-aim past the AR's RRR, makes it so it's only viable at its intended range. I really didn't find it an issue at all. 90% of my AR kills during the preview Beta were by hip-fire.

My point about it was mainly addressing what I saw as potential problems without having played the beta in response to forgewolf saying it's worse than H4.

We always say to fight fire, you must use fire. This is wrong. Fighting fire with fire will leave scars and a new flame will rise. We must instead use water. It is the opposite of fire, it extinguishes the fire, it cools, it refreshes, it heals. We are made up of 70% water, we are not made up of 70% fire. Please practice what we truly are
I'm glad all weapons have zoom. Aiming down the sights with just abut any firearm is more efficient than just ramboing it.

Sword doesn't have zoom...

So... I guess I'm going to have to pick up after your horrendous mistakes on here too?
The early access beta was neat and didn't have anything to lag.

Sadly, this is only JUST the beta....

Never. Precision weapons were designed so that if you're in the correct range, it doesn't matter whether or not you're scoped in.

CE- Didn't matter [test it yourself, spread doesn't change at all]
2 w/TU- No spread
3- Didn't matter, but lead to the infamous H3 BR spread dilemma [range was too short, this meant that sometimes even with red reticule you would have shots running haywire]
Reach- Bloom, because I don't even know

Now that you mention it, this might be the case in H2A though. I haven't seen any tests on BR spread in that game, so I'm not the best judge. Regardless it's something that I hope will be removed from the game.

Right now it doesn't seem to have that much of an effect so I doubt it'll be anything as jarring as BR spread or DMR bloom on precision weapons... but, well, there it is.

It may have been that way in Halo CE, but that stopped in Halo 2.

What stopped in Halo 2? Halo 2 didn't have spread at all. And base, non TU Halo 2 works the same as Halo 3 [i.e. zooming in doesn't change accuracy]. Though actually now that I think about it, Halo 3's BR recoil was based on the reticule. So there would be a very very slight, extremely marginal increase in accuracy after zooming in.

The Halo 2 BR did have spread, it was just so minuscule you couldn't notice it unless you did a test standing still. The Carbine also had it.

Errr... no. Spread was entirely removed as of Autoupdate 1.1. There was still controlled recoil, but that was pretty much constant.

Halo 2 BR has no spread, only microscopic recoil

Halo 3 BR is garbage in every sense of the word, scoped in or not

Or was it? Now that you mention it while I've always heard of spread being completely removed I haven't really seen an official log for Autoupdate 1.1. Do you have a source stating that it was only a miniscule spread? And even then, it would be the same mechanics as Halo 3 so the effect on the argument is inconsequential.

[Sorry for this damn near schizophrenic set of edits, I'm doing other stuff too :P]

I guess I never got a chance to learn the nuances of Halo 2 like that.

But after Halo 2, precision weapons behave the way I described.

Actually I believe Admirals said in his beta assessment thread that the Prophet's Bane does have a zoom and gives it about a 3x lunge range.

You're correct. It has Smart Scope. Narrows your FOV, so it doesn't really "zoom".

No? Well in Reach, sure, but certainly not in Halo 3. Like I said, the zoom doesn't make you more accurate aside from increasing your auto aim/bullet magnetism and slightly decreasing your recoil. See that video I posted [the one where I was calling Halo 3's BR total garbage]. Spread is every bit as random scoped in as it is scoped out.

You mean the thing where you hold up your hands and the sword closer to your face?

That actually has a function?
Yeah. Triples your lunge range.

Take a look.
