Damn, Linda's Armor looks fucking sweet.

Look at all those heavy optics.

Fred's Armor looks cool too, despite the fact that it's apparently based on the Halo 4 era Commando abomination.

Betting on even more complications than that actually. We've still got like, what, 11 terminals to go? Highly doubt they'd just drop the storyline right there.

"flaming nipple chops"-Your host, the man they call Ghost.

To say, 'nothing is true', is to realize that the foundations of society are fragile, and that we must be the shepherds of our own civilization. To say, 'everything is permitted', is to understand that we are the architects of our actions, and that we must live with their consequences, whether glorious or tragic.

I like Optic lenses on power armors. It makes them look like badass tactical Spiders.

So, Songnam decided they'd make special customized Mk. VI armor variants for Linda, Fred, and Kelly in the short time between their arrival and the outbreak of the Battle of Earth? And Linda for some reason needed a suit with a shit-ton of useless optics on it?

Yeah, it can look cool I agree, but in moderation and within the realm of reason. How it was done in Reach with some helmets was alright. However, replacing the standard visor with 2 optics, putting optics on the sides of the head and more optics on top of that is just plain fucking insane. Now, all that's been done is guaranteed that Linda can't look around outside of when she's using a smart-linked scope. Whoever in the art team thought it was a good design needs to be reevaluated.

I did rewatch and I agree  that it's kind of ridiculously redundant. At least its not as stupid looking as it could have looked.

I need to do some more research to see what armor they were wearing in that time-frame, but Mk. VI has been in development for a while at that point given how many variants existed in 2552.

Yeah, they could've thrown some ghille suit-esque mesh on it and gave it a unicorn horn I guess. Other than that, I don't know how worse they could try to make it.

Seeing as how I can remember a point in GoO where they slid their visors up or something like that, and Linda doesn't have a visor, and the cover art of GoO shows them wearing default off the lines Mk VI, and I'm pretty sure the novel supports that too, I'd say this is wrong and 343i wanting to shoehorn their artistic designs into the lore.

It twas a simpler time, indeed. Then we needed customization in MP, and suddenly now all Spartans must have their own personalized armor sets that reflect their personality. Because, that's totally how a real military functions.

Seems legit.
Bungie got around that by moving Chief's legs apart ridiculously far. He's got a HUGE-ass thigh gap. Not just that, the bypassed the restrictions by doing hand animations that don't adequately represent human movement. If you look at the Blur cut scenes, the proportions of the classic Mk. VI have been modified to make a human able to move better in it.

Actually, if you look at the canonical SPARTANs with different armor, it's suited to their specialization, not their personality.

Fred's specialization of knives is clearly evident, I can see.
Linda, I'm afraid literally cannot see due to having a place to see replaced with a bunch of useless optics.

Spartan IV's and MJOLNIR GEN2 were in action before the war ended. However, they were pretty much only stationed on the Infinity while it was being constructed in the Oort Cloud, as defence.

Truth and Regret discovered it independently. I would assume Truth first as he was building a huge Jirahanae fleet to attack it so knew it was the Human Homeworld whereas I presume Regret did not and discovered it later. When Regret was eager and went in without realising it was humanity's last stand, Truth was forced into action prematurely to pick up the pieces of the invasion after Regret left the city
