What should the ruleset and setting be?

Cartridge, Smogon rules
Cartridge, no rules
Cartridge, some rules
Pokemon Showdown (simulator that goes by Smogon rules)

Question for future Pokemon tournament that I will host

Personally, I'd very much prefer for it to take place on the cartridge this time. The experience is overall better compared to a simulator. The only downside is that other people can't watch the battle live and accessing the battle replay requires inputting a code. What's good about simulators is that even those who don't own a copy or XY/ORAS can still take part in the tournament and other players can watch battles live.

As for the rules, Smogon rules or just some rules are what I would prefer. No rules would just end up with people using cheap strategies such as putting all the opposing Pokemon to sleep.

Put your opinions below.

A cart tourney would be great if enough people are willing or actually can commit. I would be up for it.

Though there's just so many more advantages to using showdown.

This is not the greatest sig in the world, no. This is just a tribute.
I vote simulator on the grounds that grinding/breeding/supertraining a team on my copy of X for one tournament would be more of an annoyance than an enjoyable set up.

Pretty much what Boot said, Showdown is much quicker as well.

If you haven't updated your 3DS in the past month or two, there's this QR Code exploit that Octavius has been doing where you can basically create a battle-ready Pokemon.

But otherwise, yes, breeding and EV training is a lot of work and a huge nuisance.

I would like cartridge, but Showdown would basically have the same results at least when we take cheated Pokes into account. A rule against hacked Pokemon would be pretty much enforceable.

Chicks dig giant robots.
I'd prefer cartridge, but I can see the advantages of using Showdown. I'm fine with either, and the rules aren't that important to me. I'll be fine with pretty much anything.

Also forgot to ask this: round-robin or bracket?
