Wait are people complaing about this being a “movie” game? If anything the past games were like that. They were only 8-10 hours VERY linear and with a fixed camera angle. This game isn’t open world but it’s much more open. Has side quests, crafting, abilities to upgrade, and it’s dang near 40 hours. They say around 35. But some beat it in a good bit less rushing. So I don’t understand these complaints.

because it is a movie game. its attempting to be gritty and edgy with 30fps and motion blur, a close over the shoulder perspective that emphasises """immersion""" rather than fascilitating gameplay (which is what the fixed camera angle did before). the game isnt tryting to be a game anymore.

god of war was never good but jesus its sad to see yet another game from sony that can be written off as "sad and in the forest". its like the industry has just forgotten what made games good and has just injected the same heartless nonsense thats flooding hollywood in an attempt to make as much money as possible off of retarded dickwads who care more about the polygons and lighting effects rather than how good a game plays.

Uh, I just disagree. It's not walking down corridors, there's big open areas. They already said it won't be loaded with cutscenes. So all I'm saying is I don't agree with you on the point you're trying to make. You literally said it's just a bunch of polygons with a gritty tone for "retards" to enjoy. I enjoy all types of games. And I don't think it's bad if a game puts emphasis on story. The game is far bigger than any of the past ones and the combat is more than button mashing hack n slash now. They've even added RPG elements. So I was just trying to understand after all that, how the game is a movie. If you don't like it that's fine. You didn't even like the old ones, whatever. But how's it a movie? Is Gears of War a movie? And Halo? Pretty much any linear game?

The fact that THAT is your takeaway from my post is why I say you're not bright.

No, thinking that "realistic graphics" and a dark/gritty story makes a game better or more appealing is what retards care about. That's why you like Uncharted, despite it being a 3D, story-driven version of Asteroids.

This idea that having a more "mature" storyline legitimises games as an artform without actually doing anything unique with the medium is disgusting. I'm telling you right now, Sony's contemporary first party developer studios will NEVER make a game as legitimately artistic as Majora's Mask or Metal Gear Solid 3 by trying to FORCE people to take them seriously. I'm all for edgy and gritty stories but these games all feel extremely forced in that respect. It's like everyone wants to be Naughty Dog. And Naughty Dog is everything wrong with the industry to begin with!

The game is trying to be taken seriously like a movie by telling a mature storyline. Just like Uncharted. Just like The Order 1866. Games can have an emphasis on story, but they are still games and they need to have gameplay as their priority to be worthwhile. Otherwise I could just go watch any number of shitty Nolan Hollywood flicks these games try to emulate.

The problem with this God of War game is that it seems incredibly played-out and unoriginal. That's why no one cares about it. Action games with a close camera don't make sense. The slow combat with an emphasis on showy non-interactive kill sequences looks dull an uninspired, as though it's saying "hey look how many blood particles we can generate in real time!". It just looks boring.

Ouch, don't like Nolan movies either? I liked Insomnia and The Prestige. Didn't think stuff like that was considered bad... But anyways, I'm not trying to argue with you, no need to be mean. And I can agree it seems like a lot of people are trying to emulate Naughty Dog. You just don't like those types of games and that's that I guess. I don't like them all either. The Order was not very good. The shooting felt awkward. The game was short, way too short, and the story wasn't even satisfying. So I'll just end it as a difference in opinion. Or bad taste since you prefer that term. Up to you.

Well, I'll wait and see how it turns out. I think another thing is I cling to these because there aren't many left. I know some disagree but it's as if single player is a dying genre. I don't want to play some 4 hour COD campaign either. It's needs to be a bit more significant. At least like Uncharted 4. That took me almost 18 hours. This game is even longer. So I'm willing to play all types of them. And yes, Uncharted is nothing special, unless you really enjoy the story. It has amazing graphics, and a well told story for a game, though maybe not well written. But the gameplay is nothing new, just a regular third person shooter. I can admit that. But I still enjoy it. I like my singleplayer games, and I'm sad to see less and less of them. It's all about multiplayer now, Overwatch, or Fortnite, or PUBG, or some MOBA. I wish more developers made singleplayer games. When Zelda came out it reminded me of when I was a kid. OoT was one of the first games I ever played.

You say these games are what's wrong with the industry, I disagree. I say it's multiplayer. You get me? Not sure how you feel on it.
