The reality is, your utopian preference isn't even possible anymore-better to learn about things through a safe, sci-fi filter than through watching IS behead someone on Facebook (for example).

i was 8 when i was first introduced to halo, and i resented my friends for playing a game they were too young to play

I was always that kid that would be at somebody else's house and they would be like "do you want to play ***" and I would tell them no I can't play rated M games I think I was 8 when i played halo and I called my mom and asked her if I could

but i'm just saying, that's why i don't think this is even worth making a thread about--no one cares about the ESRB anyway

I think there's a difference between 11 year olds playing something like GTA (With, y'know, drugs, sex, very heavy violenceand language and stuff) or a modern warfare/ WWII game like CoD or Battlefield than an 11 year old playing a scifi game that is brightly coloured, has literal pew-pew guns and has the objective of shoot aliens.

The only reason Halo ever even got a gore rating was the Flood (The aging is absent from ODST/ reach and iirc 4) and even that isn't that bad. Playing Halo is the same thematic as Star Wars- shit, even the Clone Wars had slavery and space racism and shit in it. And that was a kids show. The concept of a Death Star is pretty much equivalent to glassing (Well, worse, IMO) and the aftermath of RoTJ literally causes a nuclear winter on Endor that wipes out the ewoks (Not in the canon, but jut the raw amount of stuff impacting the planet would do that).

So yeah, if Halo isn't suitable for kids, then neither is Star Wars or lord of the rings or whatever.

I always thought it was only rated M for the blood. Can't say for sure. But I've noticed in all T games there is no blood. Blood may come out, but it disappears in the air. Like Uncharted. It doesn't splatter, or seep out in pools on the ground.
