That bugged me, too. I really like the feeling of progress you get in the traditional, linear games. The upgrades were kind of cool, but I had all the equipment with all the useful upgrades halfway through, which meant that I was just trudging through dungeons (which were actually really well-designed) to get to the end of the game. I'm hoping they tweak the upcoming open-world Zelda game to address that.

I absolutely hated Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, mainly because MS took a great franchise/developer and turned it into a gimmicky pile of trash with extremely monotonous gameplay.

But you can't just say a game sucks because you don't like it. Honestly, I couldn't care less that you dislike it. No game is universally liked.

But you act like your opinion is a fact because people can invade your world or leave messages that could end in you being killed. Well, you can also summon backup. You can also leave messages that help people, which tend to be the majority of the messages you find. I remember I was still kind of in the beginning and had just barely survived a long ass battle, and a message saying "beware up" and another one saying "magic up" saved my life.

So no, it's not a bad game. At all. Just the fact that tons of people like it and play it proves that. But further is that while you can be tricked and invaded, you can also receive a lot of help. And that makes it balanced. That makes it fair.

I hope this doesn't turn into another everybody vs. Verbatim Dark Souls thread, but I can add to this. First of all, despite there being really no way to communicate with players beyond emotes and random messages, there's still a lot of etiquette in invasions and duels, and players get rewarded for placing helpful or funny messages that people "upvote". The community is great. There are griefers, but they tend to get shit on by everyone else.

Assassins Creed 1 and 2 are quite honestly the least fun games that I've ever dragged myself halfway through before just giving up.
Then I read all the tin foil shit and Desmond killing God in 3 or brotherhood or whenever and I was just like... fuck this series is dumb.
