Dark Souls 2 is just bad. It's not worth purchasing.
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is a good game by itself but it's not a good Ace Combat game

If they end up being bad, then it's a bad game—case closed. But Zelda II was a huge departure from the first game, yet I still consider it not only a great game, but a great Zelda game. I don't divorce games from their franchises just because they're radically different. I only divorce games from their franchises if they end up sucking complete ass, like Metroid: Other M.
Wind Waker fits that description.
