Because people are naturally entertained by mindless violence when nobody is really getting hurt.

Majora's Mask is my favorite LoZ game and I'm not even finished with it.
I love the themes, the gameplay mechanics, the characters, the settings, it's just amazing.

Typically you hear people talk about OoT or Windwaker as their favorites. A Link to the Past if it was one of their first games or Twilight Princess if they haven't played MM.
