Game Styles You'd Like to See

A lot of games today like to be photo-realistic or hyper realistic, with sharply and clear defined graphics. Which, can't be complained about really, but I'm sure there's styles out there we haven't really looked into yet.

So post an art style or game mechanic style you'd love to see that's never been done before or is uncommon.

For me, I always love game conept art. If we're to look at things like Destiny's concept art, or any game art really, that sort of messy, undefined sketchy/painted art style just seems really nice to me, and I wonder if it's possible to implement or emmulate a graphical art style like that into a game that doesn't turn out to be cell shading.

I really enjoy the hand painted look of games like Cuphead and Ori and the Blind Forest. I wish more games had this art style.

I like the Tron neon and grids kinda thing.
stuff like War Games in Titanfall or the Arena maps in Halo 5 or just about anything in Custom Robo Gamecube

German Expressionism. I don't know how it would work, but anything fantasy/horror/mystery would work fantastically with it.

I just want it to become an industry standard where developers make 2 games in the same engine, and then release the source code/editing tool/have mod support in a PC release. Also if multiplatform games had cross-platform compatibility, that'd be really sweet tbh.

I love hand-drawn animations in games like Indidvisible, which I also made a thread about <.<. It gives the game a smooth but also responsive feel to it.

Probably the cartoony, comic book style of TellTale's Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us, or Borderlands.

Too much sci fi crap or photo realistic.

Cyberpunk 2077 should hopefully come out sometime within our lifetimes, pretty hopeful for it, since Projekt RED also made The Witcher 3, one of my favourite games

Hmmm, based on the teaser it looks a lot like Blade Runner, which was honestly kinda tame <.<

But i have faith in them, they know how to make things gritty

At first I was thinking,

"How about Modern-era Captain America? Throwing your shield around? Could be cool."

But then I realised that would be pretty shallow over time. I know he uses guns in WW2 so I figured that could add some depth to the gameplay.

But yeah, that would be amazing.

Open-world games that focus themselves more on the freedom of choice and story rather than a set plotline.

Fallout New Vegas, basically. I want more games like Fallout New Vegas.

I haven't been impressed with most open-world games recently, but that's mostly because they focus too much on the "open world" aspect and not enough on the "game" aspect.
