Didn't he say that they would discourage developers from DRMing mods so they can only be uploaded on Steam Workshop, and that they would like to better support mod databases like Nexusmods? How is that dodging the question?

If the mod was worth it? Yes.

An easy to use donate button would have been perfectly acceptable, however it won't happen since Valve can't legally take a cut of someones donations. It also doesn't destroy the modding community as a side effect.

Find me someone from those occupations that doesn't act like that. It's pretty much necessary for people to act like that to stay in those positions, because otherwise they'd get their shit chewed apart and they don't tend to fare well against that.

Because Valve is monetizing what use to be a free feature of PC gaming, banning people who speak out about it, removing mods that want to stay free and let people donate to them instead, telling modders its ok to use other peoples work in their mods if they're free (which forces people to monetize their mods so Valve can make more moolah), and basically destroying the modding community by removing the incentive to share resources and collaborate on projects?
