His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
But at the same time, realism =/= poor gameplay.

if you're into that sort of thing i guess

i think hotline miami is actually fairly realistic, since the player char dies just as easily as the enemies

Games like ARMA are pretty bland unless you're really into MilSim, but saying "realistic" is a negative is about as silly as saying it's a positive.

What do you mean by realism? Realistic combat like Operation Flashpoint, or realistic(ish) settings and backdrops like The Last Of Us?

Seriously, minus the zombies it's actually a pretty realistic take on the post apocalyptic setting.

So are you going to my question or are you just going to be a sanctimonious asshole?

not even realisticish

having zombies at all removes it entirely from the realm of plausibility

besides, the game's AI is so fucking bad that the "realistic enemies" end up being dumber than actual rocks

"well why not?"

"because we dont call them that, dummy!"

"but its a fungus that spreads and makes people into rampaging monsters to spread the fungus further... exactly like classic zombie viruses..."

"nope definitely not zombies"

The backdrop to the game is somewhat based in realism. It's not like they're people who died and came back "alive" or anything like zombies in TWD. It's a mutated version of an infectious fungus that actually exists.

That"s the "ish", you pleb. Nobody in here flat out said TLoU is realistic.

here, let me clue you in on some #relevanthistoricalinformation

the confucians have long believed in a concept called "the rectification of names," which encourages proper nomenclature of things so as to catalyze social harmony. so, when you take words like "realism," dilute the meaning and apply it to define something that... isnt realistic at all... that's a breach of proper confucian conduct, and you are fostering social enmity instead of harmony

Cordyceps are a real thing you know.

The idea of them doing the same to humans what they do to ants is laughable, however. Certain diseases and parasites have some influence over human behavior, but not enough to create zombies.

Plausible? No.

Possible? Yes. The idea of a viral pathogen jumping from species to species is not unheard of.

There should be a balance. If a game emulates real life too much, it sucks.

I've heard Spec Ops: The Line was pretty good. I haven't played it myself, but I got the impression it was trying to appear realistic.

Anything is 'possible' when you get down to it.

The idea of a viral pathogen that specifically targets ants suddenly being able to infect a far more complex human brain is an interesting one, but I'm not about to pretend it's even semi-realistic.

Well when you put "suddenly" into the equation that's when it becomes impossible.

Watch the video. It details how 60% of our diseases originate from domesticated animals, and how it's possible for an infection to travel along a particular food chain. Viruses mutate to accommodate their hosts mang.
