Feeling pretty good about the game. Has a few negatives. Combat takes some getting used to. I'm a fan of the turned based games so this was a bit of a change. The camera needs some works. Very easy to lose faster enemies in combat, or get caught on allies in smaller spaces. Can get frantic and frustrating at times when you're still learning the flow and your team is getting slapped around. That and poison is a major bitch.

The only other negative is the mountain region and the long rock walls that force you to detour for half an hour across the entire map just to get to a point on the otherside. Very annoying. The plains and marshes are much better.

Game is fun and gorgeous though. Once you learn your moves the combat gets a lot smoother and less button mashy. Summons are AMAZING.  :o Holy shit. Ramuh rekts everything nearby including the forest.

Also Cindy is best gurl.

From here just gonna finish up side quests and find the easter eggs. Got type-0 to play through and still need to wrap up X and X2 HD.

I beat it a few days ago. My main issue is two things.

The lock on system. Holding R1 is annoying enough to keep it locked on one enemy, but the fact is that it doesn't stay on one enemy when you so much as look at another just makes the whole thing so clunky. It's annoying and needs to be fixed.

2nd is the Goblins in that cave, and enemies in general. It feels like my attacks don't do anything. The enemy's are just bullet sponges and the amount of Goblins in the cave was just WAY too annoying. Literally like 15 just throwing poison at you left and right with you dealing minimal damage.

30 FPS seems sort of weird for the game. The animations are amazing but it feels so sluggish.

Character designs also are meh. I hope you can change the clothes on them because all black is just annoying and unoriginal.

Pro's:

Ost is great, as expected.

Game looks pretty, as expected.

I didn't think the voice acting was too bad as others have suggeted, it's just their voices are way too deep minus the Cloud wanna be who looks and sounds silly.

Last thing. Obviously they're not giving away any story to this. In fact, I would bet this little demo quest stuff won't even be in the final game. At least not the way it is like this. Still, for a beta, I got what I expected. Tone out the gameplay and I think it'll be something to get.

P.S. Thank you, Jesus. I think that was obviously scripted but it was amazing none the less.

P.P.S. It's also spelled "Cidney", not "Cindy", but since I know a Cindy, I'm calling her that anyway.

On mobile so can't type for shit until I get a new laptop. So ignore spelling for like a month or two.

Gonna be stuck with 30fps since it's open world. Not much can do there.

You do have to use abilities or power attacks to do any real damage. Dragoon Jump and thrust take some good chunks away if you can land them. Otherwise ye you just chip at em. The cave was a nightmare. Way too many enemies with poison constantly drawing health. The ghost swords helped. But you still blow through all your potions.

Still hate those wolf things the most tho.

Didn't mind the voice acting either. Prompto is definitely the most annoying personality wise.

I think the demo tempered my expectations without dashing my hype. Got the combat down, but it took a while. Just want them to move that camera back a bit, and put some holes in those rock walls.

They need to make your attacks actually do something, tone done the poison and enemies in the cave (that seriously made me want to quit), pull back the camera, and for a personal preference, actually be able to change clothes. They look like One Direction.

It looks great from what I've seen.

It has literally zero AF, AA that isn't very good, and the hair seems to have dithering (possible it's just the 900p resolution and lack of a decent AA solution causing that). The lack of AF makes the ground look like dirt soup.

But it's a demo for a game that's stilll over a year away, so I shouldn't really judge it harshly.

Yeah I'm surprised they included the demo of such an early build. I honestly think they should have stressed it's a very early build.

The angel agreed to trade a set of white wings for the head of another demon. Overjoyed, the demon killed one of his own and plucked the head right off its still-warm body.

The angel then led the demon to heaven, where he underwent centuries of the cruelest tortures imaginable. Finally, the pain was so great that he lost consciousness - at which point his dark wings turned the promised shade of white.
So is the combat harder than it was in the XIII saga?

It has literally zero AF, AA
I dont see anything wrong with that. It sucks up resources a lot with really no massive impact on visuals <.<

Umm, no?
Do you know what Anisotropic Filtering does? It's not a very demanding thing and makes quite a difference.
Look at the ground texture and how it turns to shit a few feet away from the character. That's what having no AF will do
Even trilinear AF is better than none.

AA has quite a big impact on visuals too, depending on which type is being used.

I'm sure it'll look better final game. Also, one thing that really captured me is the draw distance. Cidney's shop was insanely far away but I could see it. I really liked that.

It'll undoubtedly look brilliant at release. I even acknowledged that it was still over a year away until release.
It looks good graphically as it is now, al things considered.

Yeah really. The two games I've always noticed that push graphics to the max are Final Fantasy and Resident Evil. At least the main installments. Shoot, 13 still looks pretty today and that's just over 5 years old.

To put it as simplyas I'm able to, it makes the quality of textures on an oblique viewing angle in relation to where the camera is looking not look like a blurry and muddy mess.

For example, DmC on the PS4 has awful AF for whatever reason

Got type-0 to play through and still need to wrap up X and X2 HD.
oh gosh I am super hyyyyped for it, it looks awesomesauce

Make sure you try the glitch to get out of bounds of the map to explore some more, if you want.

It doesn't make sense why the PS4 version has no AF, but the Xbone version does. Dying Light on PS4 didn't have it either, but that was fixed in a patch.

It's a Capcom game though, and so far they've done shoddy jobs with PS4 versions of their games. REmake, RE Revelations 2 and now DmC have problems, but they're fine on Xbone.

I don't know about the PS4, but I've heard the PS3 was difficult to develop games for. That might have something to do with it...? Different consoles, yeah, but Sony.

Nope.

PS3 used CELL architecture, 360 used PowerPC architecture, and CELL is quite a bit harder to develop for than PowerPC. PS4 uses x86 architecture like a PC does and the Xbone does.
