But i thought you were a console collector
I am, just not with Xbox. But that has more to do with price than anything else. I wouldn't spend more than $50 on a 360.

The original Xbox I have was a gift for my dad from one of his friends.
what's actually wrong with the 360 that you wouldn't spend more than $50 on one?
No games.
RRoD.
Worst controller known to mankind.
XBL is awful and isn't free.
etc.
opinion discarded

>.> to elaborate, well, RRoD is over and done with (although there is still the loud noise and disc scratching issues inherent to the older models), about the same amount of games as PS3 (but PS3 has better exclusives), controller is regarded as ergonomically correct (for the most part--but the SIXAXIS is better for fighting games, which may explain why you prefer it, assuming you do) and Xbox Live is superior between less lag, not getting hacked, and more players with microphones (if that's a problem, universal mute exists).

Ultimately, I see the 360 being remembered for the controller and Xbox Live's dominance, but PS3 will be seen as having done more for games as art. Free games won't be enough to turn around PSN's perception woes :^)

Xbox Live is superior between less lag
I've heard from many people that the difference is negligible at best.

not getting hacked
Getting hacked isn't a problem if you take care of your account. That is to say, don't put any money on it. Ever. Because that's just a dumb idea in the first place.

PSN being free pretty much trumps anything XBL might have over it.

and more players with microphones (if that's a problem, universal mute exists).
I fail to see how this is a "pro" anyway.

Ouya is a microconsole, so it doesn't count in my book.
The Phantom was never released, as far as I know.
OnLive isn't even a console in any sense.

Between the PS2, the GameCube, the original Xbox, the PS3, and even the fucking Wii, the 360 was the worst. By far.

Still dominated the decade though.
I admit there were some fucked up things with X360, it was not the worst console.

Huh, in my experience I've had an insufferable amount of lag. Granted, that's just one person's experience.

I mean, the consumer can take care of their account, but the safety of that data is
ultimately in the hands of the company. The consumer can't practically dictate the security of their information that they've given out. And it doesn't matter if they haven't put money into it, because PSN still asks for personally identifying information such as email address, date of birth, country and state, gender, and a password, which can go a long way. The only foolproof solution is to not make an account in the first place.

I mean, free is both a pro and a con. Sony's given a few reasons to invoke the adage, "you get what you pay for."

More microphones is good for the big bunch of people who like to socialize in their games. Sony's been wise to pick up on that recently. Being in a vacuum is not why folks like to play online, silly.

They were all consoles at some point and failed at their basic promises. Being good, releasing, and being practical in today's world, respectively. I think they're perfectly valid examples, fam.

But in the case of OnLive, Sony did buy them and Gaikai to make PlayStation Now, so it wasn't a total failure, all things considered.

Well, the 360 took the main ideas of the original Xbox and expanded upon them dramatically. There's a reason why Ninty and Sony borrowed controller shapes and online features from the 360. It failed only by being rushed out to the market and thus having utterly unreliable hardware, that Microsoft only sufficiently addressed long after the fact.

But they're not. How can you say that a console that was never even released is a valid example?

I could easily just say that the Xbox 360 is the worst physical non-microconsole that was actually released, but I don't really feel like I should have to say that.

Not having any games is a pretty big downfall as well.

Alright, fair point regarding the ironically named Phantom.

I'm having difficulty understanding this 'lack of games' thing, though. From what I've seen, the 360 has 1,162 disc games versus the PS3's 1026, for starters. It managed to wrangle games that would have been PS3 exclusives, such as GTA IV, LA Noire, Devil May Cry, Virtua Fighter, FF XIII, and others. Could you elaborate?

"No games" is a common expression that means "no good games" or "no games worth playing."

It's not meant to be taken literally.

Oh.

Yeah, I can't imagine you being interested in endless Gears or Halo sequels or stunted fighting game communities. PS3 sounds like your cup of tea. The 360's exclusives had the benefit of being decent and like, existing, when the PS3's exclusives were neither, but things changed in more recent years. There's ultimately not many 360 exclusives that are still notable today, unlike The Last of Us, or Journey, or Uncharted 1/2/3, Demon's Souls, or God of War 3, or MGS4, to name a few.

Having said that, um,
Spoiler
No offense, but you would have had a much stronger argument if you just actually said what I just did for you, instead of this drawn out 'deduce my point/20 questions' thing that happened instead.

Which is why I said in the last decade.

and the virtual boy honestly wasn't terrible--it was just an overhyped, poorly advertized, and misleading gimmick

but if you've ever sat down and actually played one, the games aren't bad

the worst thing about it is the design--it just looks and feels ridiculous

A overpriced console with only like 10 games in total all of which are shit, made you dizzy, literally rapes your eyes, and is uncomfortable to play wasn't terrible at all.

It was overpriced, sure.
It has more than 10 games, and half of them are decent. That's a better rate than every console in existence.
It doesn't make you dizzy if you don't play it for hours on end.
It doesn't "rape your eyes" at all.
It's not uncomfortable.

It's not terrible.

the one true God is Doctor Doom and we should all be worshiping him.
I bought a standard white one back in '08, but it died on me shortly after. My Elite still works as far as I know. It's a noisemaker but it's damn near unstoppable.

So you can just say they suck without any knowledge of what the games even are just so you can justify your bias? You know, like you did for every PC game.

So you can't do it? I'll do it for you, then:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_exclusives_(seventh_generation)#Xbox_360.2C_185_exclusives

Actually, wait, this list is bullshit. I see Bioshock, and that's available on PS3.

But yeah, none of these games are worth playing.
