I was able to enjoy Fallout 3 mainly because I don't give a fuck about the first two games.

I don't really care about 4, either, but I may try New Vegas some day. Maybe.

There was a time when I thought Fallout 3 was bad, and everyone and their mother gave me shit for it.

Having beaten it several years later, I can honestly say that I enjoyed it quite thoroughly.

Then, all those people who gave me shit for not liking it before suddenly decided that they hate the game now.

That's my life in a nutshell.

It's not too bad. Still has PS3 graphics with that shitty Gamebryo engine. Horrible animations, sub-par writing, and weak RPG elements.

Really, the Fallout community in general has turned me away from the franchise almost completely. They're just really bratty.

It was okay.

I put around 200 hours into it, did all the DLC, and had 2 playthroughs. Have no reason to go back.

It's a spectrum. Not only are some communities more insufferable than others, they can also be insufferable in many different ways. Fallout fanboys are of the whiny elitist variety--they tend to go hand-in-hand with PC elitism and other cancerous shit.

Even though people who enjoy the more recent Fallouts objectively have no taste (unless we speak of our lord and savior New Vegas of course) I'm sure they can be useful to society somehow. When we run out of fossil-based fuels and haven't properly invested in green energy I'm sure they'll make good kindling.

Subsequent playthroughs are really boring, and that's a big problem for an RPG. It's too limited.

Gunplay is still pretty solid, the power armor much better, and how you search boxes was an excellent change.

I could probably get past the fact that it isn't an RPG if the writing was actually good, the lore wasn't completely fucked up, and there was actual player choice and consequence, but this is Bethesda we're talking about.
