A piece of shit game like New Vegas doesn't even deserve to be compared to a good game like Fallout 3.
It's so fucking broken, you can't even get past the first area because it's impossible at your levelI literally tried everything and no matter what I would always get killed by all those damn Deathclaws that are blocking the way to where I need to go.
No matter what, there was nothing I could do, I ended up selling the game back to Gamestop.
Sure, I guess if you had no life you could grind in the starting area until you were a high enough level, but I don't have the fucking time for that.
I guess it just goes to show you that the only people who did enjoy New Vegas has no life. THERES A FUCKING REASON WHY BETHESA PUTS LEVEL SCALING IN THEIR GAMES OBSIDIOTS, AND ITS TO AVOID SHIT LIKE THIS.
Also the desert is a fucking boring place for Fallout. Capitol Wasteland >>>>>>>>>>> Mojave Desert

Uh no, not even close. Table top fallout may have had good lore, but gameplay was shit.

You have to keep context for the time they were in, which was the 90's. If you compare Fallout 1 to 3 or NV, of course you're gonna go "lol old not close". Back then, every RPG on computer was top down. I honestly think the combat was fine. People still rave about Baulders Gate and that follows more or less most of the same formula. If you're not going to keep it in the same context and hold it to the standard of the genre at the time, you may as well not give an opinion.

It's just the genre it was in, and games like Pillars of Eternity bring it back with power.

What keeps annoying me is that my attacks constantly miss because I'm always just unlucky, but otherwise the combat is fine

Because it's an old game that relies on a very old gameplay system from the 90's. Some people like that stuff, others don't. You don't have to like it and then suddenly say it's horrible because you don't like it. I don't like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty, and most Telltale games, but I can see why others enjoy it.

I never played any game as old as Fallout 1, but I enjoyed it because of all the similarities and references that were made in Fallout 3 and NV because of it.

It took a few times to get the jig down, but once I knew what I was doing and how it worked, it all came down to a bit of careful reading and good RNG.
