If I'm not here, I'm doing photography. Or I'm asleep. Or in lockdown. One of those three, anyway.

The current titlebar/avatar setup is just normal.
now she wants me to place an observer in a mirelurk pod--without killing any mirelurks

Mined PC terminals are rare, but can be disarmed by activating the back panel if you can. Honestly it's better just leaving them, once defused the terminals are useless and you can live without frag grenades.

There is a way you can monitor the pods without killing anything if you don't blindly follow the quest marker, but I won't tell you how because spoilers.

Yeah, I got the job done anyway. It was just a matter of self-control. lol

Even though they're dumb, I think Mirelurks are my favorite enemies in the game.

Anyway, now she wants me to cripple myself. I felt really silly agreeing to it, but whatever.
The sooner I finish this survival guide, the better.

Intentionally breaking your limbs is harder than I thought.

First time I saw one, I freaked. All the legs and... crustacean-y bits. Urgh. Shotguns to the face are my recommendation. Hell, anything directly to the face does it, as long as they're reeeeaaaally far away.

Fun fact: Mirelurk Kings (if you haven't met one yet, you will... slightly less ugly fuckers) are apparently from irradiated sea turtles, whereas Mirelurks themselves are, well, enlarged angry horseshoe crabs from 40,000 leagues under the sea.

Try jumping off the balcony, I think that breaks your limbs without killing you

That's what I've been doing--trouble is, I do more damage to myself than I do to my limbs.

I can't sleep, because that fixes my limbs.
I can't take stimpaks, because that's wasteful.
I can't drink from faucets, because I'll probably become too irradiated, and that sounds tedious as fuck.

I think I'm gonna try throwing a grenade at my feet <_<

Yup, that did the job. That did the job REAL good.

"Why not study injuries on yourself? If it'd help, I could shoot you in the gut."

oh my god, what if i said that LOL

that would be horrible

my award: MORE DRUGS--YES--JUST WHAT I WANTED

she also gave me an environment suit, i guess

oh well, second chapter finished

So, to recap, here are my quests:

Quests
Wasteland Survival Guide
☐ Learn the history of Rivet City.
☑ Return to Moira with your injuries.
☑ (Optional) Receive a crippling injury.
☑ Become seriously injured (50% health or less).
☑ Return to Moira.
☑ (Optional) Do not kill any Mirelurks in the Anchorage War Memorial.
☑ Place the observer in a spawning pod in the Anchorage War Memorial.
☑ Return to Moira.
☑ (Optional) Test the repellent on seven more Mole Rats.
☑ Test the repellent on three Mole Rats.
☑ Return to Moira.
☑ (Optional) Bring a landmine to Moira.
☑ Travel to the playground in Minefield.
☑ Return to Moira.
☑ (Optional) Contract more severe radiation sickness (600 rads).
☑ Contract radiation sickness (200 rads).
☑ Return to Moira.
☑ (Optional) Find medicine in the Super-Duper Mart.
☑ Find food in the Super-Duper Mart.
Those!
☐ Find Bryan Wilks's father.
Galaxy News Radio (ACTIVE)
☐ Find the Museum of Technology
Big Trouble in Big Town
☐ Rescue the Big Town captives from the Super Mutants.
☑ Ask the people of Big Town about their captured friends.
Aiding the Outcasts
☐ Investigate the Outcast Radio Signal
Not of This World
☐ Investigate the strange radio frequency coming from the Wasteland.
Into The Pitt
☐ Find the source of the radio transmissions.
The Local Flavor
☐ Investigate the riverboat.

For the final chapter of the survival guide, Moira wants me to head to Rivet City to learn about its history. Funny--that's exactly where I'm headed for the main quest. Three Dog wants me to head to the Museum of Technology, and Rivet City is en route to that point, so I'll finally be hitting two birds with one stone on this one.

I'm always updating the OP with my stats and quests, by the way, if you're interested in that.

Ah, a visit to Rivet City conflicts with one of the main quests. You need to know this rather than spoiler'd because otherwise you'll skip/fuck up the GNR quest.

Actually...just don't talk to Dr. Li in the Science Labs. DO NOT TALK TO DR LI.

I did that by accident on my first playthrough and it fucked up the main questline a bit...so much so, that I went straight from "Get Moriarty money" to "Go to [place I can't tell you] to find Dad" and never knew the GNR station, or Super Mutant Behemoths existed.

It was years later on a re-playthrough I realised I'd actually missed a significant portion of the game. So yeah, DON'T TALK TO DR LI. At least until you complete GNR.

Wow, that's fucked up. Seems like an easily preventable thing, too--just make it so Dr. Li doesn't say anything to you until you finish the right quests.

But yeah...

About not talking to Dr. Li...

Don't worry--like I said, I already spoke to Three Dog at GNR. He gave me my mission. I'm not heading to GNR right now--I'm heading to the spot Three Dog wants me to go, which is the Museum of Technology. Rivet City is en route.

I didn't see any other route, so this must be the correct path. If not... that's some fucked up game design right there.

Just watch out. In skipping, it auto-fails the previous main mission. Btw, the Rivet City history can be found out without talking to her, but thought you needed a heads up in case of this flaw.

I mean, I do have two main quests in my queue now. Galaxy News Radio and Scientific Pursuits.

Is that bad? They don't... seem to overlap, or have anything to do with each other, so I don't think it matters.

But I don't know, you got me freaking out now. lol

Wait, what?

Oh shit. That's weird.

Seeing as it's appeared to turn out ok, I'll fill you in a little bit. After completing GNR, 3-Dog gives you a lead to Rivet City. Technically you can just stop the GNR quest right now and carry on with Scientific Pursuits, but it makes more logical sense to carry on as you are with GNR.

Sorta. I guess you just skipped at the perfect moment where it doesn't totally fuck everything up.

Galaxy News Radio isn't required to be completed to move on to Scientific Pursuits, but it's still nice to do GNR

Yeahhhh, that's why I was kinda sure I didn't mess anything up. Because I'm like, "what does securing a radio signal have to do with finding my dad"

That's a relief, though.

Also, I'm getting sidequests out the ass. I'll go over them in a sec.

So I had a giggle just now.

I've been roaming around in a suit of outcast armour because it looks cool e.e
And it's close enough to Skitarii as you are going to get in Fallout but

I went to talk to Casdin to turn in some tech and he said something I've never heard before
to the effect of
'i see you have a suit of our power armour there, I'm sure you just happened to find it out in the wastes (sarcasm dripping) so I'll take that off your hands and you can be on your way'

I thought it was a joke but i hit RB and boom. There i am starkers outside fort independence.

If I didn't like the armour so much I wouldn't have reloaded a save but god damn it made me laugh.

This is one of the things I love so much about this game, even after all these years and hundreds of hours of playtime - there is still shit that genuinely surprises me/that I haven't seen before.

Haven't had any time to play at all today, what with driving lessons, going to the movies, and Halloween shenanigans (no one smashed our pumpkins this year, by the way--first time in ages).

There was something I forgot to mention during my last playthrough, though--I found an Enclave soldier, and... he wasn't nice. It was the first time I had to kill one of those eyebots, too <_<

Glad his armor's worth a ton, at least.

Oh, and one of my weapons broke. First time that's ever happened. I'm glad you can just repair it, though--I thought it would be unfixable if you let its condition drop too far.

Since when did the Enclave spawn this early in the game? I don't know of any random encounters with them that can happen before a certain quest is done.

Also I just found out a quest on New Vegas today I never knew about. One of the strip NPCs who mills around gives it to you. I have over 1,000 hours in NV and I didn't know about this quest. The fuck?

I've been thinking maybe it has something to do with my level. Ever since I hit level 8, stronger enemies have been spawning, like Yao Guais and Robobrains.

At this point, I'm beginning to roll trains over Super Mutants, as well, so I think I might head to Big Town after I clear up all these new sidequests (assuming they're not terribly long).

Wait until you get SM Overlords, albino radscorpions and ghoul reavers. They fuck your shit up even at level 30.

He sits outside the monorail station. Only found out about it because of a playthrough I'm watching. Presumed he was a generic npc.

I ran into the same enclave encounter, it's by the anchorage memorial I think.

It occurs when you've hit Lv 8, regardless of the enclave's status storywise.

Pheeble Will? That ties into Beyond the Beef, if you haven't done that quest get. BTB is one of the most fun New Vegas quests, IMO.
