Yes

Be like the original Brotherhood of Steel members. Their ideals would match yours (that is insane sarcasm).

Report back to me ASAP, scrub.

All right, I'm about to take a break, I think.

What I have to do now:
- Find Galaxy News Radio (Main Quest)
- Locate the Family (gang that's harassing Arefu) and find Lucy's brother
- Find food & medicine in the Super-Duper Mart (it's actually called that... I thought Moira was just being silly)
- Save Big Town from the Super Mutants
- Disarm the nuke in Megaton
- Investigate all those radio signals

...In that order. I think.

Actually, the super market is en route to the GNR building plaza, so I could kill two birds with one stone there.

Disarming the Nuke is something I'm surprised you didn't do, considering you just walk up to it.

I need an explosives skill of 25 before I can fuck with it, and I just haven't got around to doing that yet.

Also, the prompt says "activate", which made me think that I'd blow it up so... <_<

Fuck it, I'm heading to the Super-Duper Mart. I got nothing better to do tonight.

Just got "mugged" by Mel. Um... I just let him mosey along with five of my caps.

Just found a bottlecap mine.

Holy SHIT this thing does some mad damage.

Done. That was a lot easier (and more fun) than I thought it would be.

Found another mini-nuke, ammunition for my laser pistol, and a whole lot of other cool shit. Additionally, I leveled up again (lots of successful hacking and lockpicking). Invested in speech and explosives, and got myself the Educated perk--now I'm gonna deactivate the nuke after I report to Moira.

I fucking love shotguns.

And on that note, I take my break.

All those radio signals start entire questlines for DLC so I wpuldn't start them until you feel prepared because the DLC won't let you retyrn to the wasteland until you've finished their respective questlines. Aside from Point Lookout, anyway.

Btw verb, do you want a list of Broken Steel quests? BS directly extends the game by addung more main quests after the end of the game and probably adds about half the game's length again.

You don't want to that yet.
Yeahhhh I figured. I fought at least one of them already, and it was a bit of a struggle, so, that can wait.

I entered Vault 106.

For some reason, I expected this to be a more... pleasant visit. As I opened the vault, it didn't occur to me at first just how easy it was to get in--normally, as the Overseer has taught us, you don't come in, and you don't come out. Nonetheless, I thought I'd meet a couple of friendly faces.

It became clear to me that I wasn't in a safe place as soon as I spotted a small puddle of blood on the floor, just before I reached what was supposed to be the vault's living quarters. All the rooms were dark, with desks, sheets of paper, and other rubbish strewn about all over the floor. One room early on was home to a couple of fried skeletons guarding a monitor and two laser pistols. Unfortunately, the laser pistols lacked batteries, and the terminal was too cryptic for me to hack, so I made a note to invest in my science skill the next time I leveled up.

I experienced mild frame rate issues as I shambled across the dilapidated chambers of the vault's decrepitude, wondering if it had anything to do with the fact that my flashlight was constantly turned on. Occasionally, I would have an encounter with what my pip-boy referred to as an "insane survivor"--I wondered, survivor of what? Regardless, they were dangerous, and a lot of them attacked with combat knives and lead pipes. Towards the end, I even came across one crazed fellow with a sledgehammer.

With a strong desire to conserve ammunition, I took out the bulk of the insanos with various blunt objects--the same ones they would use, typically. I only pulled out my pistol if they ran, which was cumbersome--the game allows you to place hotkeys on nine different weapons. Kinda like Ratchet & Clank's quick-select feature. Trouble is, the keys are very unresponsive, and the insanos would manage to escape every time. V.A.T.S. didn't help--I was better off clubbing everybody to death, which was very satisfying to do with the lead pipe. It made me feel like I was the insane one.

In fact, one of the strangest things that occurred during my infiltration was the fact that my vision kept going all blurry. A blue filter would splash across my field of vision every so often, giving me hallucinations and teleporting me to random locations. It was startling at first, because I had no idea what the fuck was going on--but then I read on some terminal that the reason everyone's going insane, including me, is because the Overseer started spilling some kind of neurotoxic gas into the vault, for some unstated reason. That cleared things up, somewhat, but it made me want to read the first terminal I saw towards the beginning even more.

One of the survivors wasn't insane, however, as noted by my pip-boy. He put up a lot more of a fight, and had a great deal more HP than anybody else I fought. He was also the only one I saw wearing a labcoat in there. I felt bad for killing him, but I was going through a really bad hallucination at that point--the Tunnelsnakes from Vault 101 started appearing and disappearing, attacking me, and I just wanted it to end. <_< Killing the poor guy seemed to be the only means to that end, and I never had another hallucination for the rest of the vault after I did. Still--he was an aggressor, and I was only acting out of self-defense anyway.

Once I leveled up, I invested in speech and science, and went for the Daddy's Boy perk. Alas--when I accessed the terminal, I failed to override the lockout. Hopefully it'll only be locked for twenty-four hours, like most password interfaces.

As for looting, I had a pretty decent harvest. Lots of valuable items sitting on shelves were mine for the taking. Conductors, sensor modules, wonderglue, turpentine, lots of pre-war money, big cartons of cigarettes, a fission battery, a science bobblehead, lots of food, and even a miniature nuke were all pocketed. Most importantly, I found a few stimpacks--not a lot, but enough to keep me going for awhile. In the vault, I found a couple of beds, so I got all my limbs healed up without too much trouble, but...

Man. What a fucked up place that was. And I still haven't even completed it yet.

I suppose I should know by now that nowhere is safe in this game.

I can only imagine that this vault is only one of a very many I'll be experiencing.

Deactivated the nuke. Holden (Lucas Simms's son) awarded me with the key to that empty house that I kept walking by, and now I get to use it as my living quarters. Fucking YES. It's great, because now I actually have a place to store all of my items, and a place to sleep at consistently. But more importantly a place to store my items.

I reported back to Moira after visiting the Super-Duper mart, and she gave me a food purifier. Very, very nice. But now she wants me to irradiate myself with 200-600 rads for her research... <_< Kinda crazy, but not something I'm unwilling to do. I'm standing next to the nuke, now, waiting to get sufficiently irradiated. I might get bored and stop, though.

Find a bathroom and drink from the toilet

You'll get like 30 rads per drink

That requires that I continually mash X and stuff. Eh.

This way, at least I can tend to other things.

OP updated.

I now have radiation poisoning.

Y'know, for science.

WOOOOOOOOO

Now you can get a lot more shit. You should only carry what you need. I said before that I'd carry around 20 grenades in my pocket and I'd never use them.

All right... Now I'm all fucked up with radiation. Let's see what I get for this <_<

A couple of Rad-X chems, and... A Rad Regeneration perk.

"Now, when you suffer from Advanced Radiation Poisoning, crippled limbs automatically regenerate."

Woah. That's pretty fucking rad.
