I also try to avoid radioactive substances, too. Like Nuka Cola. But I have a 10% rad resistance, so I guess that's my threshold, but what happens when you cross over that threshold?
Nah, those are fine if you need health on the spot, and they give you caps. You'll get plenty of rad away anyway, not drinking 99 of them still wouldn't do enough to really hurt you.
Oh yeah, I didn't even think about the caps! Neat.

Pay attention to the Geiger counter on your pipboy/whenever you drink/eat radioactive things

You have a limit of 1000 rad (You die when you reach that), radiation poisoning sets in at 200 rad and it gets worse from there

What is the "CND" meter for weapons? Is that, like, its condition, or something?

Yeah condition. You can repair it by either getting the same weapon and hitting Y to repair (be careful with legendaries, as you can overwrite them doing this), or by going to merchants and paying them to repair it.

Mhmm, if the bar reaches empty then it'll break and become useless, unless you repair it using another one of the same or similar item

As condition drops, so does the damage/protection of the item you're using

Oops, I accidentally "read" (and consumed) the comic book <_<

I THOUGHT I COULD ACTUALLY READ IT FOR A SECOND

Oh well. +1 unarmed.

Looting is fun, but it kinda makes me wanna play Borderlands ._.

I'm sorta realizing that Borderlands kinda took Fallout 3's concepts and made them a lot better, but I digress.

Oh ya, Verb. Those comic books provide permanent 1+ boosts to certain states. You wanna keep an eye out for those.

All right, I think I'm done looting this school for now. I'll deal with those ants later.

Found myself an automatic weapon, but it's a piece of Chinese junk, of course. Cheap raiders.

Also found a couple knives, but I doubt I can use them to backstab anyone. Unless I can, which would be sweet.

About the raiders, though--I find it interesting that most of them appear to be female. From what I've seen, anyway.

If you level up sneak high enough melee weapons do a considerable amount of automatic crit damage from sneaking.

Raiders are randomly generated, so it's just luck of the draw on your part.

Even after nuclear Armageddon, those womenfolk are still the ones stealing all the good shit.

Raiders are generic and shit in Fallout 3 anyway. A lot of factions are honestly, and it was a main complaint to the game. New Vegas added much more with variations of Raiders (you could actually talk with some), and other factions in general.

Raiders are often hopped up on drugs or starving/dying. They'll go after anything that's not part of their little group.

They can smell your minty fresh vault ass no matter what armour you're hiding under.

Not at all. Not on my first playthrough, anyway.

Entered the remains of what appears to be some old couple's house. Found their obliterated skeletons lying adjacent to each other on their queen-sized bed. Strangely powerful image.

And with that, I take a break for the night. I did everything I wanted--I raided the elementary school, did some dicking around, and I found myself an automatic weapon. Tomorrow, I'll actually try to get a main quest done.

Also, I just realized that all ammunition is weightless, so there's no excuse not to pick all of it up when you see it, even if you don't have any compatibilities <_< Oops. I'll keep that in mind from now on.

I hoard ammunition like crazy.

It makes me feel safe knowing that I have several million assault rifle rounds at my disposal.

Yeah, Fallout 3 doesn't have a hardcore mode like NV which gives ammo weight and you need to sleep/eat/drink

so carry all the ammo you want verb

Get the Fatman launcher, and then spend the rest of the game not using it because nukes are too rare to waste.

You're doing it wrong because you're not using the MIRV.

I never got the MIRV. I got bored with Fallout 3 before I got most of the later weapons.

Why fire one nuke when you can fire 8?

Because you only need one to kill 99% of everything in the game?

Fawkes can take a MIRV round and walk out of it slightly unscathed.

But your point.

Fiery overkill from what's essentially a shotgun nuke launcher is the best kind of overkill. If there's one enemy you want to say an extra round of "fuck you too buddy," the MIRV is the gun for the job.

Here's some good looting tips for junk

Pre-War Money, pencils, cigarrettes are al weightless so you may as well take them to sell , there's no drawback
Scrap Metal, Boxes/ Cartons of cigarettes, drugs and alcohol sell for high prices so make sure to carry them with you
Scarp metal, pre-war books (intact ones), Brotherhood Holotags, nuka cola quantum and sugar bombs are highly sought after by some people. Give these items to those people and prepare for good rewards
Use the "1 to 10" rule while looting - if an item is worth 10x as much as it's weight (1lb for 10 caps and so forth) then pick it up

Hope that helps in knowing what to loot and what to leave

Contrary to popular belief, Ghouls still take damage from Fat Man nukes.

The nuke itself still produces an explosion that's the primary source of damage, with the lingering radiation being secondary and completely useless on NPCs because they aren't affected by your hostile radiation emitions.

I was more meaning how you get maybe 3 shots out of the MIRV due to it's rare ammunition
