Can your PC play borderlands local co-op (meaning one system, one copy of the game)
Yes!
not without going to ridiculous lengths and  downloading multiple 3rd party programs some of which costs money

The game doesn't have split screen support from te developers. My point is still made.
All of your arguments seem to just say that developers are lazy on PC.

Which is why there needs to not be a single console, just console fluidity, and the reason consoles need to be able to compete with PCs, which they cannot right now, proved by how lazy developers are on PC.

Lack of competition breeds laziness.

No, consoles can't compete with PC and therefore devs can afford to be lazy.

If they sell the game on console with split screen, but couldn't be bothered to add it on pc, yes, that is lazy.

Maybe the reason why is simply because PC's would have trouble with it unlike consoles. If you're a laptop gamer it's going to be hard doing split screen on a small screen. It would be the same problem for PC gamers unless they have a large enough screen. Your average PC screen size is what, around 20 inches? Doing split screen on that would be a pin in the ass. So no, PC not having split screen is not out of the developers being lazy. It's simply them being smart enough to know that developing it would be pointless when few people would be able to do it.

So what you're saying is you'd be happier not having the option and never having to try to make it work than you would being able to just plug your computer into a televison?
