Spoiler

Ugh. I thought EA were starting to actually become not shit. But every step forward involves sixty steps back, it would seem.

So, TL;DR;
-EA access will not be coming to Playstation, which sucks
-SWBF not having any single-player is apparently good
-EA still defending Day One DLC

I don't necissarily think BF needs a full campaign, but it still desevres an AI battles mode like the originals. Fuck EA.

The ball is in Sony's court for the EA access one. People need to stop asking EA why it's not on the PS4 and start asking Sony.

I didn't know it wasn't on PS4, this is the first I've heard about it.

Guess I assumed it was available on both.

There's  nothing wrong with most day 1 DLC if you actually know how game development and the industry works.

Indeed.

The current game industry is a steaming pile of shit at the moment and game development is rushed as shit these days because the spastic little gremlins on the ground can't calm their fucking tits if you even mention the word "wait."

And naturally, most companies and publishers these days sell their steaming piles of shit because the spastic little gremlins on the ground buy them over and over, thus setting a trend that said companies know they can bargain on.

Nothing wrong with splintered and cut content being lobbed off from the full game and being sold back to people alongside a game that's charged the full price as if it were a complete game.

Not at all. Totally.

Starwars: Battlefield, Return of the Day 1 DLC

The first two Battlefront games are actually closer to Battlefield than the new one is. People need to take off the nostalgia goggles. DICE has definitely felt the pressure coming from people endlessly bitching that the new one is going to be a BF clone, because they've strayed further from the BF formula than Battlefronts 1 and 2.
And honestly, what's the problem with Battlefield: Star Wars? I enjoy Battlefield and I love Star Wars, and BF's gameplay suits SW quite well IMO.

I don't like day one DLC, but anyone who thinks SP in SWBF2 was good is an idiot. They're better off focusing on the MP, which is what the SP was anyway. You could EASILY throw that narrative into MP.

It was literally MP with bots and that was it. Just some neat narrative which could have easily been done better in a graphic novel. Take the nostalgia grasses off, people.

Art/ aesthtic day one dlc is fine by me. But to use totalBiscuit's example is the Prothean dlc on ME3. A full dlc pack that was there to buy additionally on day one that contained some pretty important stuff (IE an actual, living, breathing fucking prothean) if you give a damn about the story. That shit was fully completed before the game was released, yet not released unless you wanted another pay wall.

This is the kind of stuff that is unacceptable.

What's the Day One DLC again? Is it the Battle of Jakku map? Because at least that's going to be made available to everyone for free a week later. Sure, it's still shitty, but it's still much better than the ME3 day one DLC and many other examples

Battle of Jakku is a free DLC map pack that comes out a month after launch. The only day one thing I can think of are the early unlocks for the special edition buyers.

Well yeah, they completed it during the space of time that existed between their final build and the launch date. Their art and sound teams were working on it during the space of time where they'd normally be sitting on their hands which is why some of Javicks assets are on the disc.

It is. Not only are you putting your teams that would normally not be doing anything during the later phases of development to work, but you're also maximizing profit due to the fact that DLC is most profitable when it's close to the date of release.

But it's still a massive piece of content. It isn;t just a random bit of armour or a weapon skin, it's somethign which is a game-changer for the Mass Effect universe. If it was fully voiced, animated, written and so forth in the relatively short amount of time between when the modellers (and artists and so forth) finish their job (Which I find hard to believe, considering it was advertised as CE content), it should have been available for free. Even on a system like the Cerberus Network from ME2 which rewarded players buying original copies.

But cutting out a pretty major revelation in the lore from a good portion of the fans is bad. Bad bad bad.

The lore aspect of the DLC is irrelevant to the point I'm making. You're more than welcome to argue that Javick should have been free instead of being bundled with the CE and sold to people who didn't have it. However the fact remains that it was content that was not finished before the final build was submitted to MS and Sony for certification. If the content of the DLC wasn't important lore wise to ME nobody really would have cared about it.

Yeah, apparently Pandemic was left kicking and screaming when LucasArts insisted that Battlefront 2 have a campaign mode. It made for a mildly entertaining co-op mode, but Instant Action was always better, anyway.

The only mission I actually liked in the Battlefront 2 single player was the Order 66 one, and even then it wasn't that great.

Galactic conquest was the shit.

Again, bot support is all that's needed. Battlefront's AI were more than competent for the time. Having a mode for offline players shouldn't be a thing we're just accepting nowadays.

The AI was a bit dumb until it got patched, but it was easy to not notice given how sneaky they were at capping control points >.>

I'd like a deeper Galactic Conquest mode more than anything, really.
