It looks like a generic open world Ubisoft game and is likely filled with monotonous crap that does nothing but act as filler and waste the players time. That was the biggest disappointment of E3 for me.
Considering your taste (and intelligence), I'm not too worried about what you think about anything, actually. Not sure why you even felt the need to respond.

Considering you're an irrational human being and incapable of having a decent discussion with anyone outside of a select few people I'm not sure why bothered either. Maybe I foolishly thought you'd act like a decent person for once.

It's uncommon here, at least so far. You have Yutaka, whose head is so empty, you were probably the one who influenced his opinion, so he barely counts.

The baseless comparison to Ubisoft is what gave it away. The only thing I didn't necessarily care for in the trailer was the Mass Effect-style Fallout 4 dialogue choice thing. The gameplay itself looked fantastic, with all the cool weapons and tools they showcased. The combat looked fluid, interesting, and even fast-paced, despite your primary weapons being bows. You can tell it's a game where you have to think on your feet to perform well, and that's exactly the kind of thing you want to see in a game.

It looked nothing like Ubisoft, and as usual, you don't know what you're talking about.

It's the common opinion over on Bungle and most of them own PS4s when it comes to consoles.

The combat looks uninspired and fairly generic, it's nothing I haven't seen done a dozen times before over the past 15 years. The world itself (outside of the creature design, those are actually interesting) is fairly bland, and the music is forgettable. The big thing that sets off a red flag for me though is what looks to be an ubisoft styled tacked on crafting system that's solely designed to act as filler and eat up the players time by forcing the player to run around the world and collect copious amounts of resources while doing repetitive tasks in order to upgrade your items.

We must have different definitions of "fast paced" if you think that was fast paced. When someone says the combat is fast paced, I think of the high octane, high speed  twitch combat of the Armored Core series, not a methodical plunk of arrows into a fuck huge target with the occasional well timed dodge roll.

I honestly thought the game looked interesting in the art direction it was going for, but it still reminds me of the same open world crap where you'll run from point A to point B, while occasionally taking some vehicle to speed it up, then go to watch towers (fast travel points) and unlock them so as not take forever to get to a point, and then go on a collectable quest.

I'm speaking in general of course, not just this game. I'm just getting very bored of the sandbox game that does the same stuff over and over. I can't comment on the crafting. I just keep getting a Far Cry feeling with this, and a handful of other games I've seen/played the last few years.

Maybe the genre just isn't for me.

Point to a combat system that looks more interesting.

You saw one part, and it looked beautiful.

Yeah, that one song we heard in the whole trailer sure was uninspired, and it's certainly enough to judge the entire soundtrack before we've even heard it all yet. Quality opinion. Would not ridicule.

no

I'm not saying it's bad. It just failed to capture my interest by reminding me of all the things in sandbox I've grown weary of. Maybe it'll prove me wrong when we see more, but when they opened the map I just thought "oh no".

Look at it this way--I don't get to enjoy very many things. Seeing a game that genuinely interests me is very rare, so when it happens, I'm gonna defend it like it's my baby. It's just the way things work. I'll try to keep it cool from now on.

Bungle perma'd you for being a nob, doesn't mean all of their opinions are now worthless.

Sure, off the top of my head there's Armored Core, Dark Souls, Scalebound (last years closed doors presentation looked pretty fun for the non-boss combat. This boss battle presentation was a snooze fest, things may have changed over the year), and Titanfall 2.

I mean I guess if that's your first time seeing something like that it's beautiful. For me it's fairly generic at this point.

You're supposed to put your best foot forward at E3, from what we've heard so far the OST is nothing special.

There's nothing wrong with having to do things in a video game, it's a problem though when it's solely designed to act as filler and waste your time so the Dev can keep you playing longer than you otherwise would have. This was a problem I had with FF13-2s global hide and go seek fetch quest. It does nothing for the game other than to pad out its length and waste my time, the narrative doesn't advance while I'm doing it and it ends up feeling like needless busywork.

No verb, this is fast paced.

I have faith in Zelda. Are they showing any Pokemon tomorrow?

Some sloppy takeaways from today:

Day 1 (or 2?) was decent.

-Microsoft had a pretty weak showing tbh. A few good games (Gears 4 is shaping up really well) but mostly meh (recore was really disappointing for me). I don't understand the outrage towards the Scorpio and the Xbox Play Anywhere program tho. It's super pro consumer. Their new focus is all about choice and I don't really see anything wrong with it. Xbone owners can stay on their console, while Scorpio owners can experience the power of a high end PC while keeping the accessibility of a console. And if you already own a gaming PC and don't want to buy a bone to play exclusives, you don't have to! I don't really see this program hurting anyone, the gamers OR Microsoft. WHY ARE WE MAD AT MORE OPTIONS !!!
I've seen some people upset about losing their exclusive bragging rights to which I say, "commit suicide".

-Ubisoft's conference was horrible. 2 hours of almost complete garbage. South Park is the only exception: that was a fucking great showing. Was absolutely hilarious and it didn't hold back at all.
Everything else sucked tho. Watch dogs 2's character designs were autistic as fuck (lOL h@x0rs), and that snowboarding game looks boring as hell.

-Sony did great. I wish I had a ps4 tbh. God of War and the spidey game looked great. Not too interested in Sony Bend's new game tho, kinda looked like a cheap knockoff of TLOU or even uncharted. Also the orchestra was a genius idea

Pretty good E3, although I'm a little sad that Nintendo isn't doing much: thought this would be their year to dominate the show with the NX. Regardless, tomorrow should be fun.

My perma has nothing to do with it. Almost the entire website is comprised of nobs, and I don't care much for nob opinions.

You're right--Scalebound looked like utter shit this year, so you can't use it as an example.

Describe how Armored Core's combat and Dark Souls's combat looked better than Horizon's. I thought it looked on-par with Dark Souls--if not better, based on the scant weapons we've seen so far.

No, I've played my fair share of games with beautiful environments. I just choose not to be jaded about it. It doesn't devalue it just because you've seen it before. Why reinvent the wheel?

Quote

They did put their best foot forward. I simply don't hold music as a priority.

Dark Souls does the same goddamn thing, and you all love it so much.

I'm enjoying it, too. My playthrough of it is still ongoing. But man, does that game waste the fuck out of your time.

Quote
No verb, this is fast paced.
That really doesn't look all that much faster, especially when you account for the fact that they're flying. Horizon is grounded, and you're playing as a human being--it looked faster than Dark Souls, to use that as an example again. That would be a more fair comparison.

Also, that game looks sloppy and terrible, I might add.
