old games we remember are always going to be better because they were that good

like music, nobody can tell me the top 10 of 1990 even if they were good for their time but the best music has survived centuries like tchaikovsky and mozart

we still remember the beatles, cliff richards, etc

same goes for films which at the time were groundbreaking, cult classics like casablanca or a clockwork orange

there probably millions of songs, art, films that were made but unless they were that good they simply didnt survive the test of time, they could've been really popular for that year and then never heard from again

same would go for games

I've been very disappointed with the new crop though. MGS V set it off, and fallout 4 cemented it.

They're not particularly bad games, but compared to the hype I had for the previous ones they just don't hold up.

I assume you mean games that release unfinished, which I would agree with. But overall, not really. I think the older you get, the more cynical you tend to get as well, so that factors into it.

There's still innovation with some new games, but because of the increasing popularity of gaming as an entertainment medium I feel as if its marketability is directly proportional to a safeguarding of proven formulas more than an emerging medium with room to explore, fail, and succeed. I feel as if older games had more liberty to explore new ideas, whereas new games predominantly appeal to proven successful ideas. Because of this, older games typically engage me more through higher concentrations of novel ideas or execution of those ideas. I don't really have any data to substantiate this claim more than personal experience, and I'm far from having representative sample sizes of "old" and "new" games for a detailed comparison.

I convinced one of my friends to try assaulting a military installation with a bomber. It turns out Bavarium nukes are super effective against said bombers. Have you tried applying boostmines to cows?

Both tbh. I still regularly play a lot of games I've had for more than 10 years, and I intend on hosting a Halo Custom Edition dedicated server sometime soon. On the flip side, I enjoy playing my Wii-U a lot, play Halo 5 every time I visit my Brother and any other friends with a current gen console.

Tbh I wish Plug/tray and play was still a thing though. Fuck day 1 patches right off.
