Do you go out of your way to get achievements/trophies?

For myself when I was younger I did which latter on went to trying to get one everyday for something to do and now I get them randomly through playing. Now that I'm older I don't see the point of going out of my way trying to get something that doesn't do anything. At the end of the day you can unlock every single one for a game and having them is no different from not having them so I stopped trying to get something that's pointless. If they unlocked things like characters or weapons I would but for the games I played they don't do anything besides change a number. In Halo 3 you did get armor but armor doesn't do anything and you hardly see it so for me there's no point of getting them for that.

What also makes them pointless to me is that for Xbox you can block people from seeing what games you played so to me that defeats the purpose of having them. If you're somebody that unlocks them for fun it kills the point of that when you can't compare yours to someones else due to that block feature.

Sometimes it can be a good challenge. If I see an achievement that can be pretty difficult, the first thing I do is "challenge accepted"

Eh I used to but when the reach DLC added that shitty 3/2 split on two retardedly difficult achievements (because nobody played the mode required, ever) I gave up.

If I enjoy the game enough to play it again I will try and get some of the achievements.

I was somewhat like that. For Halo Reach I got that achievement for jumping off a cliff and assassinating an elite right after you land. Looking back at it trying a shit load load times just to get an achievement was retarded. Nowadays when I want a challenge I play the game on the hard difficulties.

It took me so long to do that achievement.
But you know what? You gain nothing from it, but I still like doing it, knowing that I beat the challenge is a nice feeling.

If they're fun and appealing or not to Grindy. I also feel way more motivated to get platinum trophys than I do getting all the achievements. Good examples are halo 3 and Infamous second son.

I don't bother with shit like the "seriously" achievements in gears

I used to go for all the Veteran achievements on Call of Duty. I stopped after MW3 though I think.

I beat World at War on Vet, and that is still my proudest thing. Grenade city won't stop me!

I used to years ago. Now I either only actively try to get specific ones, which I rarely do, or I just don't bother because they're pointless.

When I first started using my 360 and knew what achievements were, I would always try to go for them cause I wanted more gamerscore than my friends on Xbox Live.

Then as time went on I kinda stopped going for achievements.

I only start aiming for trophies after I've beat the game once, and I'm really bored/have nothing better to do.

If I'm particularly close to getting a platinum, I'll probably shoot for it. Still haven't gotten one yet.
Some trophies are just stupid.

Being a mild completionist, I do appreciate their existence.

Used to have a little competition with my m8 on games we both had. Other than trying to match or beat him, no I didn't care much.

I tend to. I've 100%'ed Halo Reach, 4, Fallout 3, Vegas and Skyrim. I've near 100'ed battlefield 4 on 360 and vanilla Saint's Row 3. I have over three quarters of the achievements available in MCC, too.

They're a way of proving certain feats, which is good

I only try if I have a history of getting them all.

For example, I have at one point or another gotten a platinum in all the Metal Gears, Ratchet and Clanks and Jak and Daxters.

Ive also gotten the platinum in both TASM games. Same with the Arkham games.
