Look at this shit. Look. At. This. Shit.

Character boosts, which aren't all that bad a concept, allows new players to catch up.

$45

FOARTEY FAIVE DALLARS

I didn't even pay that much for the full game.

You can literally do that in a day without spending a penny. Proof: I've done it (three times).

This comes only a week after they started charging $10 for a sparrow. What's worse is desticles are stupid enough to pay for this shit, which will only inspire competitors to do the same.

Also looks like those packs are $15 cheaper on the boner. Only with the power of the PS4.

Well, unless those are weirdo foreign dollars or something.

I wonder how far they're going to keep going with this.

$50 monthly rates to play with visuals, with the "free" version nothing but a black screen?

Who cares? It's optional, it's not locking off content. If people wanna be stupid and give Bungie this much money, I couldn't care less. We get free content updates now because of this model.

Bungie are just going to keep pushing the boundaries because people will keep buying it.
And the free content isn't really anything to care about considering how shit the paid content has been.

I would agree if Bungie wasn't clearly exploiting their fanbase here, because, like Lemon said, they know people are going to be stupid enough to buy it. It is optional, but that's an easy justification for swindling idiots. It's a mousetrap.

You could argue it's the mouse's fault for walking into the trap, but ultimately, mice are too stupid to know any better.

I mean, I know this sort of thing isn't new for video game developers, but the thing here is that Bungie was, for a lot of people, one of the few game developers out there who had a semblance of integrity. But at the end of the day, they're still a game developer who just wants to make money.

People are just upset that they're making their ideals so... overt nowadays.

I just find it difficult to complain about the admittedly absurd price-point of these "boosters" when they're probably what's going to fuel our free major-content updates.

And you can argue that the content is shit, but relative to Destiny's base quality, the DLC hasn't been terrible.

Halo 5 has microtransactions in place of paid dlc and I'm fine with it; but $45 is absolutely ridiculous. I would rather pay for real content instead of being fucked in the ass with microtransactions like this. Games like tf2, h5, and csgo have microtransactions but they're just that: MICRO transactions. They're cheap, and they give buyers little to no advantage in game.
$45 is more expensive than the taken king expansion for crying out loud.

Halo 5's microtransactions are demonstrably worse than this.

Not many people need a fully-levelled Warlock, but the ones who do can just utilise this option. I don't care, I won't be buying it, it doesn't directly affect me in any way but positively. The retards who give Bungie money for this are fueling my content.

Halo 5's transactions are literally better in every way:
-They aren't 45 fucking dollars
-They give very little advantage in warzone
-You can unlock every req piece through playing the game
-The req packs give absolutely zero advantage in arena mode
It's very obviously the lesser of two evils here.

Paying for progression is a fucking joke and you're a tool if you don't see that. It's really about the principle of the whole thing. Even if you aren't going to buy this, why continue to play the game and support a developer who is trying their best to fuck you? This is just Bungie's first move, and if retards like you aren't at all bothered by it, then it won't be their last.

No, they're $3 a piece. That adds up. 15 chances at getting armour I want = $45.

Quote
-You can unlock every req piece through playing the game

Yeah, after 600+ hours or so. You can reach maximum level in Destiny in little under 10 hours by just playing the game.

So there's even less of an excuse to spend $45 on this.

Quote
It's very obviously the lesser of two evils here.

You're a lunatic. Bungie isn't limiting anyone's content levels by introducing this transaction -- in fact, it's the contrary. They're giving us huge amounts of content for free.

343i walled-off content behind both RNG and the REQ point system. Good luck getting a piece of armour you want anytime soon unless you spend money out the ass at the CHANCE to get something worth your time. I've gotten armour once out of the 7 or 8 times I've opened a gold pack. Whether I be unlucky or not, it doesn't matter. The fact that it's possible for that to even happen is complete horsefuck. Imagine if I had spent $3 for every one of those packs. There goes $25 down the drain with nothing to show for it.

Quote

Because they aren't trying to fuck me, they're trying to get away with free major content updates. The same way Halo 5 included microtransactions to cover for their free DLC packs.

Quote

Nice slippery-slope fallacy.

When did some microtransactions become acceptable.

When the price-point for games remained constant despite 15 years of inflation and greater funding costs to create games, the industry taught publishers that microtransactions that don't lock-off important content or give unfair advantages  are preferable to pay-wall DLC every few months.

In my opinion, the problem with the games industry nowadays is that gamers didn't want to start paying more for games than they were used to, so companies had to resort to nickle-and-dime practices just to cover costs. Once they realised how effective this was at generating revenue, they abused the fuck out of it. Hence, season's passes, disc-locked DLC and microtransactions up the ass.

If game prices had remained consistent with inflation and publishers were fair about their prices, we'd be paying $90-120 a game anyways. I'd prefer that, to be honest, but the vast majority of people wouldn't.
