It's forced, awkward, and annoying. I tried to watch Spartacus and the first episode had like 4 sex scenes in it and shit was annoying. You don't need to show me breasts to get my attention.

In terms of frequency, it's probably the same in HBO shows, yeah. And it's just as shitty. But I think the main difference is that HBO sex scenes aren't even sexy. Like, at all. It tends to be ugly. And sometimes, they can even be justified in the setting.

but i'm personally a little bit less offended by western smut, just because it tends to be unsexy equal opportunity smut that isn't completely out of nowhere in the sense that, with the example of spartacus, people really did fuck like animals, because people really were animals during those times

meanwhile, anime (and anime-inspired video games) do not even TRY to do any of that
