Pretty sure there's an option to toss items when you select them in your inventory screen. I know DS2 has that, but I can't remember if 1 does.

There's a merchant a bit further on that sells an item that lets you store things at a bonfire.

I played through DS2 entirely without raising vigor at all because I was still in the DS1 mindset that vitality was the HP stat.

I don't remember being taught how to do it back at the asylum, so maybe I'm not supposed to know right now.

Either way, it's kinda like parrying, where I don't exactly know what I'm doing wrong--it's probably just some kind of specific timing or positioning, I dunno.

I should start paying attention to the little item descriptions on the loading screen more. Every now and then, I'll look at a pretty little ring with some neat effect, and I'll be like, "Ooh, I want that."

Hey, if you've been to that forest yet, farm those trees. They drop things to negate poison.

It's not even just the poison--they can knock you the fuck off cliffs, even when you're blocking.
