Oh ya, Verb. There's been a lot of discussion about pvp, but I feel like everybody forgot about the most underrated covenant in the game.

The Gravelord Covenant.

This covenant works a little differently. Rather than have you invade a players world, you, as a gravelord, curse three player's worlds at the same time. Now, what this does, is spawn a few black phantom enemies. These are enemies that are drastically tougher than the normal enemies in the area.

So you, as the player, have to go and find the gravelord sigil on the ground as it shifts and moves around the area with the player who cursed you. The person who cursed you is boxed into a certain area and can't fast travel and just leave you cursed for all eternity.

When you find the sigil, you can invade the gravelord's world and kill him to remove the curse. The kind of neat spin on this, is that the three cursed people can invade the gravelord's world together and royally fuck his shit up.

Personally, I always liked this covenant above all others, because it kept me on my toes if I was ever cursed, and when I invaded the gravelords world and on the occasion, happened to die, I lost nothing for it and gained more for killing the black phantom enemies and the gravelord himself.

You might not like the idea of it because consent and all that, but I always liked it more over invading a player's world and flat out giving them no chance.

Don't worry about having a "class" like other RPGs. You can upgrade everything to the max.

It'll take a while not playing PvP though. Killing a few dudes that get you a million Souls to level up with really speeds things up.

Good thinking. I forgot about that. If Verb doesn't want no pvp shenanigans then all he has to do is get past the level 120 range and he should be set. 120 was the optimal pvp level agreed on by the community.

I went to 140 on one of my characters and never saw another player again.

- different classes have different stats because it makes sense.
Not really what I was asking. Different stats makes sense, absolutely--but they're also all different levels. That would be like if in Pokémon, Charmander was automatically level 6, Squirtle was level 5, and Bulbasaur was level 4--it's just kinda weird. It feels like I'm already putting myself at a disadvantage, simply by having a character at a lower level than the rest--but I chose him simply because I like his class description and stats more so than the others. Eh.

Basically, I'm just confused as to why all the classes don't start out at the same level. That's all I meant.

Neat. When I leveled up at the bonfire, the first stat I rose was vitality--because I figure I'm gonna need all the health I can get, right? Or maybe that's a lost cause, and I should focus on the stats that are already high, Pokémon-style. Hmmm.

You'll need health.

And weapon wise, upgrade Dexterity more than Strength if you want to use smaller and faster weapons, other way around if you want to use Claymores etc.
How high do the stats go? You mentioned you were level 325--that's really high.

Yeah, voice acting in Souls series is good. They match the tone insanely well.

If only they balanced the audio so you could actually hear what most people say. BB in particularly drowns out its dialog in other sound effects.

I think it's fine. You can also balance the audio levels yourself, if you need to.

It auto saves basically after every action you do. And most importantly when you quit the game through the menus it autosaves then and there as well.

I actually have to hand it to From in that regard. If your game unexpectedly crashes for whatever reason, you'll lose very little progress unless you where fighting a boss. Like we're talking seconds. Open a door, game crashes.

Load up the game, you're sitting front of the door a few seconds before you open it. They do stellar work in that department, at least. I don't know of any other games out there that can save so often without significantly impeding your progress in-game with a wait time.

I'm level 325 I think and I constantly get invaded in the Forest. I haven't tried invading myself though.

That's the forest m8. It's a well known fact that no matter what level you are in there it's going to suck balls.

It auto saves basically after every action you do. And most importantly when you quit the game through the menus it autosaves then and there as well.

I actually have to hand it to From in that regard. If your game unexpectedly crashes for whatever reason, you'll lose very little progress unless you where fighting a boss. Like we're talking seconds. Open a door, game crashes.

Load up the game, you're sitting front of the door a few seconds before you open it. They do stellar work in that department, at least. I don't know of any other games out there that can save so often without significantly impeding your progress in-game with a wait time.

Not quite. I've done this before, since you bring it up. I was in the middle of fighting enemies when my power went out. I loaded up the game with less than three quarters of my health left because the fight was going badly.

I didn't spawn in the middle of fighting the enemy, but I spawned close to them and had a few key seconds of reaction time on their part to realize I was there, and on my own, to just cheese it the fuck out of there.

Then again, remember here verb. You'll likely die in this game. If you're ever in a situation where you're in trouble or stuck in a pinch, there's a magic five letter word that will save you.

Death.
