So If I am understanding this correctly I can get five free levels now and have my Co-Op slightly gimped, but I can heal it once I get enough souls for the tower key. Then Yoel will die and be replaced.

Is that how this works?

It's all part of his questline which is intertwined with Yuria's and Anri's. I think it can also determine which ending you get, though I'm not sure.

Yoel will die if you receive all five, heal the dark sigil or kill a certain number of bosses without receiving all five. Easiest thing to do is to just kill your self over and over until you reach 25 hollowing.
5 free levels so you might as well do it. No negative impact either, other than prune face.

If you heal the dark sigil or kill the mimic in Church of Yorshka, Yuria will disappear, thus ending the questline.

It gives you the option once you finish. If you say no you can return to Firelink and start over from the bonfire just like in DS2.

I bow before I fight someone. If they come right at me then start chugging when I hit them then I'll do the same thing. If I'm against a gank squad then they already tipped the odds in their favor and I'll pull out all the stops to ruin their day.

Dammit why do I have to read manuals everywhere on juggling fucking NPCs, and alternate endings and shit, but all I want is to build my character as a Sorcery/miracle build.

Pre Gen 5 Pokemon breeding wasnt even this ridiculous.

I have no idea what I should be doing. Someone pleas explain this shit so that I can make my character properly and not have to worry about random mechanics fucking the rest of my play though and build up.

Get all the spells and miracles you want, the weapons etc

Get the covenant that can re-spec your stuff, re-spec before you head into NG+

In the meantime, Just go strength to get through the game

Therin lies the problem, because the mechanics behind the damn vendors are so convoluted and obsuse and any given one of them will just leave on a whim just because another one of them exists. I have no damn idea how i'm supposed to progress at this point without losing the chance to build my charachter propperly.
I have no idea know what NPCs are crucial or how they will affect the game.
I dont want to do one thing and then have it set off a chain reaction that will force me to reset the entire game yet again.

Everyone bitches about Dark Souls 2 but I personalty liked being able to just work on my build without being worried that I was going to inadvertently tear a hole in the fabric of space and time and have all my NPCs deleted and get a bad ending all because Kenny never got over the fact that I gave the chocolate bar to Clementine instead of Duck.

Yeah then pull out the Carthus Curved Sword when they think all you can do is jab. The weapon arts on it really catches people off guard lmao.
