I mean, I'm pretty critical of RSE for removing a lot of features that we saw introduced in GSC despite its new additions to the mechanics of the series, but at least it wasn't forgettable like Sinnoh mostly was.

Pretty sure everyone thinks Gen IV was the worst, actually.If only because of the shitty cross-generational evolutions. I mean, today, I'm able to recognize that it was only done to make those Pokémon competitively viable, but still. They coulda done a better job with those.
