Metal Gear Rising appreciation thread

I don't care that it wasn't super stealthy or deep, it was made to be an over the top balls to the wall hack and slash and I feel it accomplished that perfectly.

I fucking adore this game. It's got a kickass soundtrack, (mostly) memorable characters and fun as hell combat. Blade mode is also so much fun to play through.

It's not perfect however, the level design could get a bit bland sometimes and the camera often screwed you over. he console release also suffered from a lack of a boss rush mode. (Seriously, the main reason I replay it is to fight the bosses again.)

The final boss is also perfection. It may be meme tier but by god does it go all out with the maximum hamminess and chaotic nonsense. I love Armstrong.

I'm glad they didn't go with the original idea of trying to squeeze it in between 2 and 4. Setting it in the future was the best thing they could have done. That way they can just go as batshit insane as they want without ruining the continuity.

Yeah, agreed. As far as I'm concerned, MG is over. They could make another Rising type game. But they'll never be able to make another real MG game. Not a good one.

Didn't feel that it was unfinished at all (yes I know we never got the final few missions. But honestly atleast we know what they were going to be), you can literally say every game has repetitive gameplay. I literally had no problems with that game, except maybe the controls were a little strange.

The two zones was fine, I was just hoping for more jungle in Africa.

The story ended on a shitty cliffhanger that was supposed to be finished but never did. And when I say repetitive gameplay, I mean running to base, infiltrating, rescuing, some meh cutscene.

The other MGS's had pacing to them and an environment that changed as the story went on. MGS5 didn't have any of that. That's one of the flaws of open world games. Just the constant going here, getting that, flying away x 10000.
