Yeah that's where you're supposed to end up. It saves by itself.

Quick question:

How many of you realized that in test of strength shrines, you can interrupt guardians' spinning charge with a bomb? I've seen numerous reviews and comments mentioning the use of pillars, but never anything about the bombs. That is the first thing I tried (early on I had a habit of kiting and bombing everything because my weapons broke so easily), and it wasn't until a couple tests of strength that I even realized there was a spinning charge, after I took too long to throw the bomb.

I think I might have done that once out of boredom, because I always try to fight those things in a different way every time, but I usually just let them slash the pillars.

Man, they really could've made those combat trials more interesting. If we couldn't have had a different or unique enemy to fight in each one, they could've at least made the terrains different. Maybe have us fight two or three at a time, even. Or just have less of them in general, because there's simply too many.

Do you watch Joseph Anderson's YouTube channel? He recently came out with an almost 2 hour critique of the game which discusses the shrines in depth.

While recognizing that there are too many repeated combat tests, I still kind of like them because they're some of the only challenging, dynamic fights in the game and reward proportionally to the weapon degradation cost to fight them.

i realized that like right away. i did something similar to you, i was scared of my weapons breaking so i used bombs for the easy chip damage.

Holy shit motion control puzzles are fucking terrible. Probably the only thing holding this game back tbh.
They're fine.

Finally got the game and have been hooked on it for the past few days now. Unless Bethesda can somehow get its shit together and pull another Morrowind out of it's ass with TES VI, I don't think there's any game that can even possibly challenge this for GOTY.

TES VI isn't coming out anytime soon, unfortunately.

this game is just the greatest
I found that. But I don't like it personally. Finding different ways to complete it is fine, but exploiting it is bad. They're literally skipping the entire shrine. There's tons of videos of people posting how to skip to the end in shrines. Thought it was interesting enough to post though.

Spoiler

So which timeline does it take place in?

It's unclear.  First off, it's WAY after OoT.  One of the Zora slabs mentions Princess Ruto and that Vah Ruta was made after her time, which the game says is 10,000 years ago.

Nintendo hasn't said anything, but the game drops conflicting references to the 3 alternate timelines.

1) In one of the flashbacks, Zelda refers to the sword as "skyward bound, adrift in time, and steeped in the glowing embers of twilight"
2) The sword is in the ruins of the lost woods, not the temple of time.
3) The koroks and rita exist, there's remains of a leviathan in the desert, and the game drops a few of references to "an ancient sea"

It's hard to say what was a convenient game designs/easter eggs and what was their intention.  There's a lot of areas that are named after just about every game, statues resembling past characters, etc...
It'd be cool if the game was trying to converge the timelines.
