Tell me you have some of these Amiibos that offer cool costumes and you want to come over and share them with me.
Yesir. Link, Shiek, and Zelda.
What do those Amiibos offer, again? There's, like, 20 Link statues, lol.
Spoiler
Smash Bros series versions of Link, Zelda, Sheik

So you have Cap/Tunic/Trousers of Twilight, Sheik's Mask, and the Twilight Bow?
You can only do it once per day and it's not a guarantee you get one of those each time so it takes some save loading. So far I have the Twilight Bow, Epona, and the Trousers of Twilight. Some of the other items you get are just good weapons or shields so I've settled for less before.

I just want the Tunic of Twilight tbh, everything else I could live without. I have 2 solid horses, and the classic green cap and hylian trousers so I can recreate the look of classic look decently well with the TP shirt. Sheik's mask would be cool though.
Yeah, the Twilight clothes are the real haul that I'd like.

Wouldn't say no to the Ocarina of Time clothes are the Fierce Diety stuff either.

Overall this amiibo stuff is such bullshit. Some of them are 100 bucks on Amazon.
Yeaaah pretty much. I was eyeing the Ocarina amiibo but it's a lot of money... lots of money.

I'm hoping theres a DLC pack in the future or something... as much as I'd hate that, I really want some of these cool outfits.
I could see that happening tbh. Something tells me Nintendo isn't quite done with BotW. (Yes I know about the DLC already discussed) Especially after how well it did.

Would be very surprised to not see another Zelda game released within 3 years in the style of BoTW. It's the Zelda game a lot of people were waiting for -- no gimmicky controls, just straight-up, old-fashioned action-adventure gameplay. Nintendo is done with gimmicks, and I think the Switch embodies that perfectly. If they can just get half-decent third-party support it's going to explode in popularity.

Are there any games you guys can recommend that would scratch that same itch this game does? I'm thinking Wind Waker would be a good idea to go back and play but I'm waiting for TBlocks to get out of school so we can binge-play (and potentially stream) the two of us playing it. Twilight Princess, maybe? I don't know, I don't think I've really played a game like this before.

I've had some really annoying control issues even with 100% bonded horses, like running in the opposite direction or stopping suddenly. This happens almost every time I use one, to the point that I don't use them except in open areas because of how often they run themselves off ledges or into walls.
literally never had any of these issues

the point is, they're still their own beings--you aren't controlling the horse; you're telling it where to go, but it's still a living thing with a mind of its own

i think people generally don't like that, but i think it's ingenious

i concur with turkey, and i use horses whenever i can cuz i don't fast travel

it seems to be speciric areas, though. the lanayru promenade, the fork in the road at akkala span and akkala parade ground ruins, heading east at the seres scablands... these are the specific areas i can think of where my horse, without fail, fucks up.
Nah.

You know what actually sucks to control?

Sand seals.

they do control pretty bad, but i loved taking down the camel beast w/ it

it was so exhilarating

also, this might seem like a dumb question but is the "royal" and "royal guard" weapon series different?

i have almost all the royal weapons and i'm too scared to use them cuz i know there's a side quest that wants the royal guard series.

also also, how do you get a dragon's horn? i wanted to upgrade my champion tunic (it looks cool) but i can't cuz i need a farosh's horn. i'm assuming you hit it in the head?

i'm guessing you just fire at its horn, yeah--i still need to do that as well

as for the "royal guard series," i assumed it was talking about armor

nah, guess i'm wrong

the royal guard series is different from the royal series. the royal guard series is black whereas the royal series is gold.

you will have an abundance of royal weapons by the end of the game so don't sweat using them.

and yes, you have to shoot farosh's horn to get a piece of it (scale is body, fang is mouth, claw is hand)

Ok so I've seen some pretty awful reactions to people disliking things about BOTW. Jim Sterling even got DDOSED because some angry children couldn't accept his opinion of the game, real mature. I've even seen people get offended when anyone thinks the game is perfection and doesn't rate it a 10/10

Is it possible to talk about the things we dislike about the game without someone getting mad over it? Go ahead.
I'll start, I thought the game lacked an interesting villain and weapon degradation annoys me.

We already have been though. I absolutely love this game but I've been giving it shit up and down this whole thread with only respectful responses given back.

I agree with your two complaints though. Mechanics-wise, degredation was only a pain in the beginning. At the end you're so flush with 60+ power weapons it's not an issue. As a story and character guy, the lack of antagonist is the biggest criticism I have against the game. At least in MM the almost non-existent villain appeared throughout the game in the consequences of his actions and the impact he had on other characters.

i need to let games sit in my mind for months before i'm ready to give the ol' 10/10--that's how it was for mario world, that's how it was for wind waker, and that's how it was for super metroid (although to a lesser extent with that one, because that game is so aggressively magnificent, i didn't need a lot of time to think)

that said, if i put BotW on that same shelf, it would be the most generous (and hasty) 10 i've ever given

it's not out of the cards, but i need to start thinking critically about the game's flaws, and whether they're even flaws at all--like turkey said, brittle weapons seems like a big flaw at first, but it becomes a non-issue once you realize that the entire game is built around it

so yeah, we can certainly have a civil discussion of it here, if not anywhere else

though i can't say i don't sympathize with the fanboys' fervor--because to them, this is the best zelda game to come out in 15 years--and for people like me, this is the best game to come out in 15 years, so obviously, it can be a little disappointing to know that someone doesn't appreciate it as much as you

I think I mainly hate fanboys in general. Though the way Zelda 'fans' have been reacting to some of the negativity is hilariously retarded. Puts me off it a bit. I don't really care if the game is built around something, if it personally annoys me it's going to bring my opinion of the game right down. I don't think it would even be in my top 10 favorite games to be honest.

i was about to argue that nature served as an antagonistic force in this game, but then i started thinking about it and, yeah maybe not quite

while nature exhibits antagonistic qualities, in that it doesn't care what you think--rain impedes progress, storms are crippling, mountains are hard to climb, the wind always seems to blow where you don't want it to, and there are tons of other natural obstacles like rivers--it also provides you with an abundance of mushrooms and apples and koroks and wild game

so i suppose it becomes more of a neutral force

that said, villains are overrated--i don't really need to have a personal man vs. man conflict in every game i play

I agree of course, and while I see its attempt to frame it as a man vs nature by dehumanizing Ganon into the very literal embodiment of evil and malice, it does so by using a really simple man vs man structure: the guardians and divine beasts are hostile because of him, and the goal is to kill Ganon. There's no real personal struggle Link goes through, and I'd venture to say he's one the least expressive versions we've seen in a long time. Zelda story is an unfortunately generic man vs self, but ultimately doesn't have too much bearing on the story that the game presents.

Big bad villains may be overrated, but the game needs some source of conflict, which we never really see. We're told that Ganon might be set free some day soon, but that never actually amounts to anything. There's no real rising action, and the climax is solely the final boss fight -- and it's not even a good one.

She spawns at midnight and dawn at the Lanayru Promenade. Very easy to get her mats.

She's also by Lanayru Bay but it's harder to hit her.

I don't really think (most) people have a problem with lowered scores and unfavourable opinions, but rather, how they are portrayed. Turkey has brought up several good points about the game's flaws, but it's never got on my nerves. Whereas you just say "it personally annoys me" without any sort of legitimate explanation (not saying that what you're saying annoys me, it's just a for-instance.)

People are okay with a game they like being less-liked by someone else as long as that lowered opinion is earned, I guess.
