I don't understand the "inverse difficulty" argument against the game (starts off hard and gets easier). Hasn't Legend of Zelda always been this way? The collection of hearts makes the combat far easier as time goes on in Ocarina of Time, and considering enemies both a) scale with you in this game, and b) can take off multiple hearts with a single swing (thus making heart collection less critical), I would say BoTW does it better than that game at the very least. There are plenty of legitimate criticisms of the game, I just don't really subscribe to this one.

Also, if someone would like to post something in response so I don't feel like I'm talking to myself sans TBlock's likes, that'd be stellar.

I'm going to start playing more once I've finished moving. so far it feels fucking amazing. Not to mention the sheer size of the map.

Yeah, I've been satisfied with the game's level of difficulty so far. Anyone who isn't still has hero mode to look forward to, though it's a shame you need to shell out $20 for it.

I neither fear, nor despise.
Loving this game. It's nice to accidentally have completed a quest before it's issued so you don't have to run amok.
I love the atmosphere and the music is cool, but I can't help but wonder how the game would feel with a traditional Zelda approach to the music too.

Doing lots of side quests before continuing. I'm possibly halfway through the game?

In my mind it's progression. The enemies get tougher but lots of things occur in the time between first playing the game and your later battles. Better weapons, better defense, improving mechanically, etc. It's not really the enemies i don't think, it's just improvement.

Re: music

I also dig the atmospheric stuff, but so much of the music is understated in the game. There's no soaring pieces except in the intro and the final boss fight and the castle. I started replaying TPP and there's just nothing that even comes close to stuff like this:

Really? I find it kind of repititive and short.

Maybe it's because I spend too much time on horseback, as I don't use the fast travel mechanic.

Nah, it's easily in my top... 30.

It gets me right here -> <- when I hear the strings of the classic overworld theme interlaced within the rainy piano melodies.

I still think the Labyrinth themes are the best in the game, though.

I don't even wanna think about the "next" Zelda. I can't imagine what direction they'd go and I don't really want to right now.

Yeah I enjoyed BOTW but I wouldn't consider it the be all end all of videogame entertainment or anything. I'd still rather play Wind Waker. I found the breakable weapons to be an annoyance (I know it's there for a reason but it doesn't mean I have to like it) and the game had weak villains. I'd probably give it an 8/10 to be honest.

a lot of games do this, you learn the game, you get better, but particularly with this i think theres plently of ways to explore how to have fun where dying isnt the only punishment you have

i havent played the game but from what ive looked at there are many different ways to go about completing a task

I wouldn't even think about revisiting Twilight Princess or Wind Waker after this game. Majora's Mask, A Link to the Past maybe because they are classics and unique. This Zelda is easily top 4. I already can't wait for the DLC.

On an honest scale of one to ten with Skyrim being the one and Witcher 3 being the 10, what number would this came fall on when it comes to depth? Also is the game's world entertaining enough where you can play for hours without resorting to quests for entertainment? For the Witcher 3 despite the depth to the game, I found the game's world to be very boring after 40 hours of riding around and killing shit.

I have thoughts of getting the Switch mainly for this game so I want to make sure I'm not going to stop playing once I complete the main quests. When it comes to open world games I spend the majority of my time running around it, rather than replaying the quests.

I would never reccommend buying a console for one game

I've easily played over 80+ hours and didn't beat the final boss until around my 70th because I was so caught up in the exploration and side quests available. It feels like there's treasure around every corner in the game, which makes exploration feel rewarding. It is the best open world game I've ever played, period. Is it flawed? Yeah, but I don't think the game's low points are really worth talking about in comparison to what the game does right. The game has a way of working most of its problems out if you give it enough time.

I would recommend you buying a console to play it, and since the Wii-U is obsolete, go with the Switch. That's a good investment anyway, I have a feeling the Switch is going to change the industry.

That is true, I'm hoping by the time I do decide to get the system, there's other games which are on the same level.

the Wii-U is obsolete, go with the Switch.

For real though, how did we get to a point as consumers where we label a game console with almost five years of solid exclusive games at a competitive price as 'obsolete' over a new console with almost no attractive games and a bumpy launch?
