Maybe someone here thinks that. Maybe they don't. Doesn't hurt to open up some new discussion.

Some people feel that DDOSing is an acceptable answer to stopping what they view as click bait reviews meant to bring in ad revenue and stick out on review aggregate sites like metacritic.

Anyone else really enjoy Kass's presence in the game? His accordion blends well with the stable themes and his appearance near shrines and side quests is pretty cool. Plus he's just a cool looking Rito.

a very simplistic story (easily one of the weakest in the 3D iterations)
Gonna respond to Jim Sterling's article, though I can't pull it up now due to the DDoS. Obviously he has no way of responding to these remarks, but I think a lot of people (including myself) have felt the same complaints he has.First off, I'm really not a fan of comparing this to Dark Souls. The AI difficulty is very artificial; they level up as you progress, and difficulty is merely a function of their HP vs your HP; there are really only four types of enemies you'll be fighting (bokoblins, moblins, lizalfos, and lynels), and except for the latter, it's your basic turtle and slash strategy. Dark Souls has a very polished and detailed combat system; BotW does not. In the next paragraph, I explain how combat is not the real means of difficulty in the game.He criticizes frequent inconveniences like constant rain or stamina loss while climbing, and here's where the real comparison to Dark Souls lies: the game is not open world in the sense that you can go anywhere whenever you want. Can't take a shortcut by climbing a huge sheer rock face due to rain/stamina? Maybe you shouldn't be taking that route without upgraded gear and stamina containers. Dark Souls does this by placing enemy and environmental hazards in your way. The game pretty successfully guides beginners to towns and stables using the roads, putting large mountains or rivers as barriers. I pushed through those barriers early on, and became very frustrated with the systems Jim mentions; I have a feeling he did the same, but didn't quite understand why they're there. Weapon durability is bad as it is and should be fixed, but it also forces players early on to take advantage of the environment and practice parrying, which is an absolutely crucial skill to have when fighting Ganon; you literally cannot beat Ganon without mastering it, and I think its importance was unfortunately understated. Yeah, the lack of any real top-tier or endgame weapons is disappointing, but the castle and other high-level areas are absolutely littered with royal gear. You'll want for nothing at the end of the game.Another complaint he has is of the canon-breaking multitude of shrines. Is it really fair to complain that enemies are tough and stamina is necessary, and also criticize that there are 120 ways to get those necessary heart and stamina containers? Of any Zelda game, BotW is the easiest to get what are exactly tantamount to heart pieces. It practically hands them out. I have more heart containers than any Zelda has offered at full completion, and I'm only halfway through the shrines. And yeah, it's a bit silly to have separate little puzzle rooms littered around, but in my head they're perfectly canonical, having been made by the scattered Sheikah monks upon Ganon's return as a source of power for Link when he's revived.A couple other complaints I attribute to Nintendo launching a relatively innovative new type of open world: stamina bar placement (which truly is ugly), frequent menu-hopping and freezing gameplay to access things, and a very simplistic story (easily one of the weakest in the 3D iterations). And yeah, the english-accented characters are voiced very badly. I'm not sure what his rating scale is like, but a 7/10 seems a bit unfair. They've shattered traditional open world concepts and innovated in a series that had done almost nothing of the sort in two decades.
