Blizzard announces Diablo Immortal, a mobile only game. Not only was the trailer lack-luster but during the Q&A they said that they had no plans for a PC game prompting booing from the entire audience. Diablo fans have been eagerly awaiting another Diablo game since D3 and this is the only big reveal for the series they have planned.

When did they say this? They've said in the past that they have multiple Diablo projects in the works and weeks ago said that "the thing [we] want isn't ready to be shown yet." They've since reiterated this in articles about Immortal like this ("I can say to them, we have not forgotten you. We’ll have more news to share at some point in the future.") and this (“we still have multiple Diablo teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects.”)

Nobody likes shitty reskins of mobile games (very similar to other NetEase games, the developer of Immortal) and hands-on tests are lukewarm at best (the most damning thing so far). Let's not say Blizzard has been hyping this up as Diablo 4 when they have been-- both before and after-- repeated to the fanbase that they have multiple Diablo projects in the works, and that they would show one of them off at Blizzcon. You don't have to like it (I sure as hell don't), but let's not fall into the trap of the rage machine.

Blizzard has done a shit job of damage control, however. I don't think the hate should have gotten this bad in the first place, but they're practically stirring the pot.
