"where you engage in huge Starfighter battles over canyons big enough to be truly epic. Then, for those not in the mood for large scale battles, we have created Missions where players can, for example, take on armies of AI or test their piloting skills. All our Missions can be played either alone or cooperatively, making them perfect for some quick Star Wars action when you have a friend over."

I feel moderately happier about the game now, I actually hated space battles anyways so the news that there is still a fighter-based mode that's actually got an interesting map is great. Plus it sounds like they have tried to shape their own version of instant action; whatever, it's got split-screen so that's brilliant for me.

Thoughts? At least EAids isn't charging for aerial battles a la BF4

Except they didn't, dogfighting was in the base game maps and they made a minigame out of it as a part of a DLC that was released free to everyone who bought it at launch. Air Superiority was a mess of people redeploying rather than being killed and jetramming paradise, not exactly something to be pining for.

OT: This sounds quite good, the coop shit with a friend over sounds perfect.

I don't get how they are calling them huge fighter battles. If there's only 20 per team not everyone is going to be in a starcraft. Unless there's still AI pilots.

I'm tired of just reading stuff back n forth about this game, I'm just gonna wait and see gameplay for myself, and then decide from there. Until then I'm indifferent.

As far as I know every Battlefield game besides maybe Hardline has aerial combat.
Battlefield 1942 has fighters and bombers and there's two maps that are fighter based.
Battlefield Vietnam has helicopters.
Battlefield Bad Company has helicopters.
Battlefield Bad Company 2 has helicopters.
Battlefield 3 has helicopters and jets.
Battlefield 4 has helicopters and jets.
For the being charged thing in Battlefield 3 and 4 the jet based playlist is in a DLC.

I neither fear, nor despise.
Well we already knew there would be aircraft, they just can't go into space and do space battles and such. A missed opportunity but oh well.

Still not passing final judgement til I see how it plays.

I'm just going to wait for the game to come out before I decide.  Angry Joe will give me a good idea if it lived up to the hype or not, and Total Biscuit will tell me if it runs well or not.

I know. That's what I meant. I said aerial battles, not aerial 1v1s. There is never any more than 2-3 jets on each side in a normal battle

Separate mode. That'd be 40 aircraft at a time

I'm more interested in how many maps there are. If there are multiple maps per planet I hope they're all separate locations instead of a really large map like Reach's Forgeworld that has smaller playable areas within it.
