I think it's pretty fun, and they've made some pretty good changes from EAfront 1. Though I don't like the loot crates.

Probably worth mentioning that the classic Battlefront 2 servers are back, so if this game isn't for you, the classic is an option.

Naboo is such a garbage map. At least in the BF1 beta Hoth tried to alternate the gameplay with some trench design. This is literally just corridors sparsely interceded with open areas.

It's alright, but two things that stick out to me are

For Capture the Flag, overtime lasts way too long like Overwatch. You just need someone to pick it up for a split second and the slow countdown will reset. It takes ages to end.

Rolling is so over powered because there is no cool down and it's so easy to dodge everything. Put a cool down timer on it.

Played two games of galactic assault and two of starfighter, then uninstalled. The infantry combat just feels sluggish and the map doesn't feel like it was designed for good gameplay. There aren't really any areas where proper firefights can happen so everythibg feels boring. The low FOV (I heard it's locked at 55 on consoles) doesn't help, nor does the Fallout 3 not-iron sights. Game feels like it went to the Operation: Metro/ Locker/ Battlefield 1 school of design where you don't need to design satisfying or particularly interesting gameplay when you could just let everything be a clusterfuck.

Starfighighter assault is just awful. Ships control weirdly, neither as simply as the OG battlefront fighters nor as complex as Battlefield jets or Elite Dangerous' fighters. The lack of any real way to avoid missiles via a Good Trick button or ECM makes combat tedious if you're not hanging around the tighter areas where you can easily lose missiles, and there's a habit of just dying in less than a second because one dude got a good strafing run on you that you couldn't predict in any way.

The game also does a fantastically horrible job of conveying what's actually going on to you. I honestly have no idea what the objective of the starfighter mode is, and the HUD is fucking cluttered and horribly laid out, making actually ascertaining any useful information really difficult.

Overall, the ground gameplay is boring, the starfighter gameplay is tedious and the UI is awful. I really wanted this to be good but it's sealed that I have no interest in buying it.

I've only played galactic assault and a round of the starfightermode and this is pretty much how i feel.

The ground combat mechanics are pretty fun like the EA battlefront(which is what made it fun for me). I like that classes are back but the Heavy class seems a little too unbalanced. also the map Theed is just meh. It's not really that great of a map but its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The random pickups have been replaced by battlepoints, which is skill and not luck based. The new starfighter mechanics are alright. I actually didnt mind the overly simple mechanics of the last one but the new seems to suit more skillful players(which is good). I do really hate the loot crate system. I really feel like its a plague to the gaming industry and it's a trend that has always bothered me. I have always preferred a traditional unlocking progression system

Overall it seems like an improvement form the last one, matter of fact, This is what the first battlefront game should have been. I can't wait for the its release.

core gameplay is pretty solid and fun. i just think they chose the worst map to show it off with in the beta. the starfighter mode is probably my favorite in it, although the flight controls for k&m are awful so i use my controller for it. the flying itself handles much better than BF1 and i like that i (and my opponents) have to throw off missiles ourselves instead of using a one press button to do it.

Honestly is it just a reskin battlefield or actually like the old battlefront games where it is mega battles.

Don't need huge player population on map, just fill the rest with AI and have players take part in it. Have a soldier count that ticks down per death and when it reaches zero for one side they cannot respawn until objective is completed by either side or all soldiers are eliminated.

It's neither. A star wars texture pack for BF4 would have been pretty much perfect for the reboot considering the old games were just battlefield clones anyway.
