They make the Frostbite engine and co-developed it according to the Hardline development page.

Nothing in Battlefield 1 looks plasticy. Battlefield 1 is lightyears ahead of other FPS's in terms of looks thanks to things like photogrammetry, something they also used in Battlefront.

Not that its bad, Battlefront played better than most Dice games
