Goodness gracious, great balls of lightning!
The game just came out and I've played it already for an hour. Here's the things I've noticed:

- A lot more loading screens during gameplay. Whenever you would die in the original version the game would reset instantly with no delay. There's a small delay when you die in this new version.

- I don't know if its just my controller but every time I press A to further the conversation with someone, it will skip dialogue entirely from characters and go right back to gameplay.

- The game crashed on me twice in 54 minutes of gametime. The game would crash on me in the pause menu for some reason.

Other than that the game is gorgeous and plays just as well as the original version. I can't wait to get deeper into the game to see how the rest of it looks.

The movie game’s gameplay came from BFBB.

BFBB was the more complete game because it was based on the whole show instead of just the movie.

it's quite neat that the game has a small amount of freedom when it comes to the stages you do. after jellyfish fields, i
Spoiler
went to goo lagoon and completely skipped over downtown bikini bottom. i didnt mean to, but i just forgot dbb WAS there, to the left of spongebobs house

the constant loading after every death is pretty annoying. i like to horse around, try to get places im not supposed to, but the loading makes me be more careful. which i understand but still

You can skip entire areas of the game.

If you get stuck in a section you can always travel somewhere else.

i aint no pansy

so far ive gotten all the collectables i can, except for 1 where i need the controllable move, idk what it's called in this game but in the movie it was goofy goober guitar

but still, it's refreshing to be able to skip areas

The Cruise Bubble, its a guided missile that you cast. You don't get it until the 3rd area of Bikini Bottom.

And yeah, skipping areas in this game is cool. You have more freedom to do what you want this way and doesn't make the game feel completely linear which allows for multiple playthroughs.

Holy shit this may just be the worst review I have ever had the displeasure of watching.

The guy is complaining about a button on the ground when all he has to do is literally take a few steps back.

He also says that he hates playing through the entire level when he dies but each area is littered with Checkpoints that you respawn at... and the clip that plays as he's talking about this shows him respawning at a Checkpoint LMAO

Imagine struggling this much at a game made for children. I guess the paycheck to review this game wasn't enough.

I hate it too, I guess either the original voice actor was too busy at the time or they couldn't come to an agreement.

Mermaidman's voice is not the same as the show either.

i can understand mermaid man, his VA passed away years ago

i dont really like this new VA either, he goes overboard sometimes but not in a good way? dunno how to explain it

17 years later the Ball Room inside the Mermalair is still a pain in the ass. I've always skipped this golden spatula.

i was stuck there for a while too, the scale at the very end always fucked me up. the ball has a mind of its own

but what gave me real problems was the power switch thingies. you know, the one where you had to throw fruit to get them face the same way

i dont know if i was overthinking it, but i spent like 20 minutes there just faffing about

It’s really fun. Unfortunately I completed everything and I only have 99 spatulas. Guess I won’t be getting 100%.

Buy one from Mr Krabs lol, you can farm for shiny objects in these places:

- The Tikis on top of the sand castle in Goo Lagoon
- The very beginning of Sandy's dream
- The Tikis in the museum in Rock Bottom

The theater in the old version was just a clip show of the concept art for the game. It was really nothing special and a waste of shiny objects.

I have no idea what it does in the remastered version. It probably just does the same thing.

It's literally the same as the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube game but with better graphics and better animations

Edit: So its a remaster.

wouldnt that make it a remake then? i thought remasters were keeping the game one for one and only touching it up, like how the mcc treated all the halos besides h2a
