I find it hard to believe that the world powers would enter a resource war when everyone's technology relies on nuclear fission.Like, I know Fallout is supposed to be wacky and unrealistic, but the fact that America was fighting with China over oil when all their technology is nuclear powered seems a tad odd.

Frim what I undrrstand, they never really dabbled with alternative energy outside of military application until the last oil reserves were almost depleted. The pipboy and T-series Power Armor were some of the few examples of technological shrinking present.
