New Vegas Definitive Edition with bug fixes
Wouldn't the game need a completely different engine to e truly fixed?
They'd be using Fallout 4's engine.
That wouldn't solve anything since both games use the same engine.
But 4's engine is an INSANE improvement from what 3/NV were running on. Especially since the gunplay in 3/NV is horrible. It may be the same engine, but it looks prettier and the gunplay is at least actually decent. Expect Fallout 5 to be on the brand new engine (or really, the next Elder Scrolls), and the subsequent games to run off those.

i hope part of the reason it's taking so long for them to even hint at the fact they're making a TES6 is because they're going to be using a new and better engine for it.
They usually take a bit to announce it anyway, right?

every 3-4 years. we're coming up on year 5s E3 though here and there hasn't even been a hint that they're even working on it

in the case of skyrim i believe they announced it a little over a year before it actually came out

Yeah, Fallout 3 came out in 2008 and they announced Skyrim in 2010. I think they might take the Fallout 4 approach with the new Elder Scrolls and announce/show it when it's very close to coming out. As for this year, I really REALLY hope we get that new Fallout announcement. Idk.

A bit early isn't it?

Another Fallout so soon released would just kill my interest in the series, even moreso if it was a hunk of crap/the majority of the entertainment relied on Sims: Wasteland Edition.

New Vegas came out 2 years after Fallout 3, so we could get an announcement at E3 and have it drop next Fall.

Shit. Somehow I feel like I got more out of Fallout 3 up to the release of NV than from the release of Fallout 4 until now.

Same

It's a bit of a bummer, because I find myself wanting to play it and then just... bleh

It's the dialogue that killed it for me, it's impossible to make a character outside of HERETOHELP or Tony Snark. Hopefully they've learned from it for the next game, because everything else is great.

I try and get back into it now on PC for dem sweet settlement building mods, but then I remember how much work I have to put into building a "perfect" one, let alone for every other settlement, and get demotivated.

It was worse on console, now whenever I go back I feel like I'm fighting the controls to place a wall somewhere. I wonder if there's a console-to-PC save transfer system.

The dialogue isn't the killer for me. It's the shitty writing and boring as fuck location.

I don't mind the BoS in this one. They actually have negative issues with them like the others did, and are the best bet for the Commonwealth. Everyone else is just horribly underwritten or thrown illogically into situations.

Yeah I enjoy it

but when I sit down and reflect on it, I don't think of it as fondly as I do with 3 and Vegas.

And that's not nostalgia talking either. I can legit sit down and enjoy them now (modded of course) more than I can Fallout 4 a lot of times. With 3 because of the location in general, and NV obviously for everything outside of combat.

I get that with Fallout 3 a lot more than NV. I just think of NV's tedious mountains and hills that are a living hell to wander around (Black Mountain, the path to Jacobstown and the Remnant Enclave base, the REPCONN site, both Great Khan camps) and how it was a nightmare to traverse them. There was a lot of "one way only" locations that pissed me off on replays of the game because it was nothing new nor was there a way of avoiding them if you wanted to interact with places.

Caesars' camp is a perfect example of this. Crazy minecraft-high mountains that stretched out the ground textures surrounding this tiny lowland... beach barrack thing, and it's the only way to get there using a raft, with an accompanying overpowering red filter over everything.

Went on a bit of a rant there, but I do love everything else about NV. The story and sidequests are a lot more interesting and feel like they're far-reaching like you've made an impact on something even if it's a grey area (e.g. Download Vault 22 data for increased food production, or destroy it all to stop mutant plantpeople rising again) compared to "Kill those raiders, save that boy, retrieve that shiny thing, AD VICTORIAM (this applying to both Fallout 3 and 4)".

But at least 3 and 4's maps are great for wandering around. 3's small enough for locations to be short distances and most of the map is accessible, whilst 4 has just a chock-tonne of stuff everywhere apart from the Glowing Sea including random unmarked locations which cane be more interesting than some marked ones.

Yeah NV had some great locations, and then not so great layouts. But something about the quests just felt great, but not making you really feel like a god. Idk. I agree with what you said though.

For the towns, villages, bases and whatnot, is the population living in them proportionate to the size of them? For example a city in Skyrim like Windhelm has lets say around two dozen NPC's in it despite the size of it. So did Bethesda put effort into that aspect of the game this time around?

The settlements and towns have a smaller scale though.

There may be only 30-40 people outside but there are less buildings and the largest "town" is several small alleys, an elevated platform and a central plaza.

For the settlement building and player towns, the largest possible population is around 20-24, Charisma being the deciding factor. The largest settlement areas are pretty suited to that size, with only the Island as an exception and on consoles an item limitation. In reality you can make a settlement as crowded as you want.

Here’s thing thing about 3D fallout:
fo3 was good for its time, but combat sucked
new vegas was a "new game" but it looked exactly the same and there were no innovative new features, fighting things was somehow more of a chore than FO3. plus there were like no open world respawns, making its replayability the worst.

When you first start out in NV there’s no story at all. I’ve never played an RPG like that. There’s nothign to draw you in, and the game is so retarded if you so much as walk in the wrong direction you get raped by a deathclaw, because ObsSHITian is too lazy to design a decently flowing world map so they lock down sections with high-level mobs.

This is why Fallout 4 is the best.

fallout 4 is by far the most enjoyable. they added innovative new features like ADS, hit markers, respawning enemies (when u compare it to NV its a new feature) and made VATs a lot less cheap. It still is a noob feature, but instead of stopping time it slows time, not by enough in my opinino though .

Power armor is finally as it should be. Its not a gay looking martian suit that looks so flimsy a 9mm bullet could penetrate it. Now i can believe its actual powerful death suit, not the worst cosplay at faggotcon. Plus, in fo4 you can attach jetpack. A fucking jetpack. Enough said, fo4 is the FIRST 3D fallout to have a jetpack.

It’s 2017. fo4 is just a superior, well polished game. I can’t wait for skyrim remastered. Another great game.
