the children of atom are the main faction in this game and you play as a new recruit who rises up the ranks by building new bases. in fact, there are no major settlements in the game aside from the CoA HQ. you have to completely build everything and populate it with nameless settlers. you become leader of the CoA when all settlements reach 100% happiness.

even SPECIAL is gone now. there are just three categories: gun, bat and grenade that level up with 5 perks each. super mutants return because the swamps are filled with fev. crafting returns but there's a single base gun for you to use.

Oh great, so we get to wander through New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.

But seriously, New Orleans doesn't really make sense as a location. Those levees would be smashed by the nukes and for 2/3 of the map you'd be swimming from house to house to loot and kill swamp raiders. We'd have a return of the mutated hicks from Point Lookout, and maybe some random french people with a ghoul Mardi Gras festival.

Still, I hope if Obsidian does a game they go back west, there's still a ton of interesting stuff there.

I'm not too keen on NO as a location either, would have preferred to go back to the West Coast. Boston was pretty meh tbh.
