cheat wouldn't run the site like this honestly

mods here just take matters in their own hands and throw cheat's way of moderation out the window
And they get away with it because Cheat is having a life and not focused on moderating the site.
they get away with it because there's no higher power keeping them from doing otherwise, and since the mods here don't actually listen to the community, they get to set their own rules and just say "hurr this is that you wanted no changing it now durr"

like really? this is what we wanted? random thread locking? its like getting pulled over by the police and having your car impounded for running a stop sign while 5 other guys just roll on through with no repercussions

His eyebrows sparkling, his white beard hangs down to his chest. The thatched mats, spread outside his chise, spread softly, his splendid attos. He polishes, cross-legged, his makiri, with his eyes completely absorbed.

He is Ainu.

The god of Ainu Mosir, Ae-Oine Kamuy, descendant of Okiku-Rumi, He perishes, a living corpse. The summers day, the white sunlight, unabrushed, ends simply through his breath alone.
I wouldn't blame the push for stricter moderation for this; one of the biggest remarks at the time was the lack of consistency in moderation. Strict moderation is supposed to make that simpler; less grey, more lock or not lock, ban or not ban.

Just going to put in my 2 cents on this line of conversation and some just thoughts I've been kicking around in my head. Might end up being a bit of a ramble that doesn't bear much relation to the thread or even be coherent.

I don't know man, I don't mind criticism as long as its valid and given in a noninflammatory manner. You can't improve if no one points out what you've been doing wrong.

In regards to this bit right here

And if it's brought up, you get shills going "Oh, you're mad." and shoving actual criticism to the floor, so it doesn't get fixed.

This is something I don't really like either, but in the defense of the users that do this a lot of the cases where this happens really are just that. TBH I'm more concerned about staff dog piling on the user that's made the thread. Those those of you who have been on the staff at some point know that I absolutely hate it when other staff like or quote my post in agreement  when I'm handling something in septagon and will always tell them to stop it or flat out delete the post if its a quote in agreement #adminabuse. Some form of lockdown for staff is also put in order. Currently I default to Cheat, Psy, and I being the only ones allowed to respond however I'm also thinking about letting Flee enter during those too.

Bringing this back around to shitposts though you're right that the current policy on shitposts is inconsistent as fuck and it's been bothering me for a long while. This is something I'm going to need to bring back up with Psy because it's something that's bogging down this sites moderation in my opinion and this policy is his baby. Whether it's more strict or lax is irrelevant to me. I just want it to be clearly defined and consistent.

It's funny that the mods who were all for strict moderation and less shitposting are the inconsistent mods who like to blame things on "You voted for strict moderation." in a shady as shit poll. A poll that was literally redone till they got the results they wanted.
Fact check: The most recent moderation poll was restarted because someone dun goof'd the poll settings. Voting results were made visible when they shouldn't have been, yet, anyway, and there was no way to change that without creating a new poll/thread.

We knew the world would not be the same.
A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita.
Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty
and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
"Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.."
I suppose we all thought that one way or another.
holy shit you guys are whiny

So it looks like Elsie has already handled this particular one but I think we'll look at shaping up the current guidelines on shitposting because it's just causing one headache after another at this point.

This is kind of a lesson in why we don't let psy write rules/guidelines/anything remotely official official because um... my style of writing is somewhat eccentric and leaves a little bit of a lot of loopholes in it.

There wasn't really a problem with what you typed out though, the problem was that it wasn't added to the rules, yet was made official and at the same time not stickied and left to falling off into some random page.

So Yu is well within his rights, abilities and duty.
The fault is actually to do with neglect on the staff side of things.

That would be kind of what I meant, like it wasn't really clear to anyone because it vanished <_<

Either way it could do with a touchup because we aren't having to deal with a constant stream of dire shitposts all the time now, just the occasional one. Mostly it's discussable shitposts that are getting cutdown like lazy workers at Krakow.
